Best place for pretty and inexpensive nursery furniture?

I have been browsing nursery furniture and everything I like is so expensive (of course!).  I do not want to sacrifice quality, but am looking for a place where I can find reasonably priced furniture (maybe a place that discounts the better brands).  Also, what are the best brands in terms of quality?  Thanks!

  • Once upon a child. They sell new and gently used. if the price ends in .50 it is used. if it ends in .99 it is new

?also look at target. they have a crib, dresser, glider, and changing table for about $800 total?

  • Since you're in PA I would say that for quality you should go to the amish furniture stores. They don't use any crap from China with formaldehyde or lead paint.

  • That's true, I bet you can get great Amish stuff and it's such good quality.

Another good place for simple yet good quality stuff is IKEA. It's lower price b/c it has to be assembled pretty much completely but my DH loves that kind of stuff. Their furniture usually gets good reviews from consumer reports and is made really well.

  • Yes, IKEA is a great idea, we just had one built here in S FL and I was there yesterday w/ DH, we loved the baby furniture and they have SUCH cute stuff!

  • Overstock.com has great deals and $1 shipping.

  • I am really liking my crib from JCP and am going to order the chest of drawers from there as well.
  • we're getting the twin's furniture/cribs at ikea. they get great ratings and are listed as a best buy in baby bargains. They also take up less space- b/c they don't have thick, ornate sides (arches, etc) - more boxy- which helps if space is small.
  • We got all of our major pieces from Craigslist. It took several months of hunting, but we got incredible deals on everything. Our bookcase came from IKEA because I wasn't up for being patient anymore and our glider came from USA Baby half off since we bought the floor model.

If you really have your eyes open, you can find great deals!

  • Being from Lancaster County...I know that the Amish Furniture is great quality, but it is also EXPENSIVE. In most cases, it's all hand made so you're paying extra for the time and craftsmanship. The quality is unbeatable, but if you're looking for a bargain...it's not the way to go.

  • I agree with the pp, Amish furniture is expensive.  I know a couple who spent 9000 dollars on their master bedroom set.
