Ugh the heartburn...

I have had terrible heartburn since about 6-7 weeks. I never had it with DD but it's absolutely awful this time around. I have it all day long, and I almost feel like I need to sleep sitting up at night :(

Pepcid (sp?) - it is my life saver!  One in the morning and one at dinner...without it I would breathe fire.

  • I  second the Pepcid, Tums didn't do a thing for me either.

  • I've been having a lot of heart burn lately too.  Guess I'll have DH pick me up some Pepcid.  Hoping this is the one old wives tale that holds true for me!

  • I have tons of heartburn every night, I read somewhere to try and eat less, so you don't get heartburn.  That doesn't work for me, but 2 Tums a night has. I'll have to keep Pepcid in mind though if the Tums stop workin!
  • I'm sure my spaghetti O's don't help either ha! I can't help it..

Is everyone sure Pepcid is safe? I thought Tums was the only OTC that is pregnancy safe?
Yeah, my OB told me Tums only. I've only used them a few times because they don't work for me, so I find I just sort of suffer my way through it.

  • The list my ob gave me says zantac, tums, maalox, mylanta, or pepcid

  • I has TERRIBLE heart burn with my son. I probably should have gotten a script for something. But I just used tons of maalox and tums. And he came out with TONS of hair.

  • It's started creeping up on me too, started much later the first time around! Last pregnancy I took Pepcid (per OB) when it got really bad, I would take it before bed. During the day I used Tums and drank tons of milk. I also became very careful about what I was eating - most acidic foods didn't taste good anyways, but it doesn't hurt to keep a close eye on your diet.

Ditto, never took a single Tums after her birth until a few weeks ago!

  • Mine has been surprising well-behaved for the past few weeks. I have a hiatal hernia and have had really bad reflux since I was about 20. But I ate at this wonderful Greek restaurant tonight and yeeeeeoow!
