Samjen's baby birth story

(Sorry for formatting. Bumping by tablet) Thank you to my labor buddy @mandiroo for posting my labor updates and thank you so much for all your well wishes! Also, thank you to this amazing community in general for all your support and for ttcal as well. I can't wait to see all of your rainbow stories as time goes by. Short story: Chandler Samuel was born on Monday, 4/14/14 at 7:48 pm via vaginal birth. He weighed 6 lbs 15.9 oz and was 19.5 inches long. I was induced two days after my due date and labor took less than seven hours. Both Chandler and I are doing great. Long story: My DH took me to my OB appt on Monday, two days past my due date. I had put my hospital bag in the car just in case. my blood pressure had been slightly elevated the last couple of weeks and was a little high still on Mon. My midwife checked me and I was only dilated to one cm. I had been having some stronger contractions over the weekend but nothing consistent. She felt it was time to induce and I agreed. My OB office is in the hospital so my DH and I went up to labor and delivery while my mw called to let them know we were on our way. I started to get really nervous as I was getting changed and settled in my room. My mw came about an hour later to insert a Foley catheter and start a low dose of pitosin. I started feeling contractions shortly after. They got really intense quickly and after about forty five minutes of trying to breathe through them, I told the nurse I was ready for an epidural. The anethesiologist came within about ten min and I got my epidural. I'm so glad I caved and got the epidural. For me, my birth experience was much better because of it. My DH was happy to see me smiling again. My mom showed up a couple hours later and her and my DH visited with me and made a game of telling me when contractions were happening since I often didn't feel them at all. Four hours into labor I heard a pop and felt a trickle. The nurse checked me and my water had broken and the cath came out by itself. My MW checked me and I was at a six. We started making bets about what time we thought I'd deliver. I guessed before 9. A little after 7, my midwife came to check me. I told her I felt a little pressure. Sure enough I was at ten and she told me it was time to have this baby. I burst into tears, overwhelmed by all that was about to happen and the journey that brought us to that point. Four contractions, and less than thirty min later and we met our son. I have a second degree tear that required a couple stitches but I'm feeling really good a few days later already with no pain. It's been a wild ride since then and this mommy is exhausted but so deliriously happy. We came home yesterday. Meet Chandler.
