Question for at-home insem pros!

Hi! I post on the third party reproduction page but thought you all might be helpful. I'm doing a traditional surrogacy for gay dads and tonight was our first try. I sucked up a little preseed in the syringe, then the fresh semen, then kept it warm in armpit until I was ready, I inserted it near my cervix and slowly pressed down on the syringe. When I pulled the syringe out, it seemed like there was a lot of semen that got stuck behind the rubber stopper of the syringe. Is this normal? Maybe I used too much lube? What's the best way to get every last drop in where it needs to go. We are trying again tomorrow night! Thanks!!

    We lubricated the syringe with preseed but didn't mix it with the sperm.

    So just to give an update, we had three more attempts after my original post about this and each one went better. I realized that letting the semen sit for about 7 min (kept warm of course!) made it much easier to work with. It was liquified and easier to pull into the syringe! I used less preseed also. Now I'm in the 2ww! Wish us luck!!

    We also had good luck with letting it sit for a few minutes. :)
