Trouble TTC

Implantation Discharge??

Ok, short backstory- I have PCOS, and literally have Never O'd on my own. I always needed progesterone. I've been exercising and eating right for the past few months, but also was not on my regular medication and then on March 20, I started AF on my own! I had taken several rounds of Clomid, never resulting in an O; even at 150mg. The last round of Clomid I was prescribed, I never took, because of some issues with DH (thankfully resolved now), so I went ahead and started the Clomid. 150mg for 7 days, paired with 5mg of Estrace for 15 days. I took OPK every day after AF, and got a + on 4/5. FF says that means I O'd on 4/6. I didn't really track discharge or anything, but I did have some cramps 3,4,5 DPO. DH and I have BD EVERY day since AF, even putting legs up after. (Gotta try everything!!) Well, yesterday, which would've been 6 DPO I got EWCM. I sill have it. There's no blood or pinkish tint to the EWCM, but is it possible it could be implantation? I just don't think it would be from O 6 days after OPK +, and OPK is - today...? Any idas would be greatly appreciated! DH says don't get hopes up, but it's really hard to not get ahead of myself. This is the first month my body has done what i's supposed to, and I feel like with as much BD as we've had, if I did O, there's no reason why I couldn't be prego... It's just killing me to think about waiting another week to test! Any ideas or similar experiences??

Re: Implantation Discharge??

  • I get a lot of EWCM when my progesterone peaks at around 7dpo. If you did actually O when you thought, your progesterone could also be close to peaking. But without proper monitoring it's hard to tell where you actually are in your cycle. That's a big dose of Clomid to not have monitored with an ultrasound to check your lining (which clomid can thin) and to see if you are ovulating.
Good luck!! And if it doesn't work out this cycle, I would definitely ask your doctor about proper monitoring.

I honestly have never heard of implantation discharge. I've had cm after ovulation before but I didn't think it meant anything.

Are you being monitored? I've never been on clomid but I've always heard that it can mess up OPK's and make charting less reliable.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I've done clomid for a while... I tried it starting with lower doses and then increasing because I still didn't O. I just never took it the last time so I decided on my own to take it this time after not taking anything for a while. My dr did say when she gave me this dose a while ago, that if it didn't work, we would start US monitoring and whatnot.
  • I've never been on clomid but I've always heard that it can mess up OPK's and make charting less reliable.
Really? I never heard that about Clomid. My dr is usually pretty good about telling me stuff like that... Well, if this didn't work, then I guess I'll ask her about that for next month.
  • So, do you think it's possible that the Clomid screwed with the OPK results, and I'm just now O'ing??
  • I honestly have no clue because like I said I've never taken clomid, I'm just going off of things people have mentioned. That's why it's so important to have monitoring because the meds can screw up your chart. Not only that, but you can overstimulate and even thin your lining out to much and possibly ruin your chances of ever having a child.

Are you seeing an RE or an OB? Have you had all the testing done HSG, SA, and bloodwork?
    Fucking bump!!!!

I used OPKs the first 2 months that I was on Clomid because I was working with an OBGYN and he didn't do monitoring. I had positives both times which correlated with O pain and when AF arrived. I was only on 50mg but it didn't throw off the OPKs. All you can really do is hope that you ovulated like the OPK predicted and wait it out. Like I said before, I get a ton of EWCM when my progesterone peaks around 7dpo and hopefully that is happening for you too (I've heard others say the same thing too). High progesterone usually means good ovulation. But beware, progesterone mimics early pregnancy signs so you really can't read anything into any symptoms, just wait it out.
    Best of luck!

  • You really should be monitored while taking Clomid.  This means have an ultrasound(s) and possibly bloodwork as well.  You shouldn't be guessing when you're ovulating.  And although I have continued to temp during my medicated cycles, it has messed with my temps (I know I have O'd because of my monitoring appointments/trigger, but FF usually disagrees by a day or two).

As far as implantation signs - there's really no way to know.  Fertile CM could mean something, it might not.  You'll just have to wait and see.

  • 6 DPO is about the earliest that implantation can happen. Typically, there really aren't any signs, though about 1/3 of women do have implantation bleeding. I really doubt what you are experiencing is implantation related.

I agree with PP, you need to be properly monitored when on any type of fertility meds.

Clomid works by tricking your brain into creating more FSH and LH by blocking the estradiol receptors. This can most certainly result in a false positive OPK. This was my first month on Clomid and I decided to start OPKs before my RE recommended ( it's fun?). The OPK's were initially strong but got weaker after my 5 days of Clomid. At my CD 11 ultrasound I had 4 mature follicles but was no where close to Oing. So....yes. Clomid can mess up OPK results. I strongly recommend u/ s monitoring.

Were you doing OPKs while taking your clomid? I guess I never took any while I was actually still taking the med because I figured it was pretty safe to say I wouldn't be ovulating yet. I usually started OPKs around CD9 and got negatives up until my positive which seemed accurate considering when I had O pain and AF arrived.
I am sure that sometimes people get false positives or sometimes meds can throw it off but that isn't always the case. I'm not sure what the percentage is for false positive but it's probably not very high. I don't know that for sure though. I would still highly re commend monitoring for any medicated cycle. Like PPs said, it would really suck to finally ovulate, have a fertilized egg that was then unable to implant be cause clomid made your lining too thin.

  • I've had like every kind of blood work done you can imagine, but not hsg or sa done. I've only worked with my OB/GYN. As far as the lining issue, that's why she gave m the estrace too. She said it helps with the lining issue... I'm only a couple days away from either AF or a BFP, and it's time for my annual anyway, so I'll be seeing my dr soon either way. I'll ask her about this other stuff. I thought I was pretty well educated, but I guess there's still a lot more I don't know. Thanks
  • Yeah, thanks. it makes total sense. Dr has mentioned I should get SA, but DH was hesitant at the time. (Gotta love that male ego. lol)  I had read something about blockages, and planned to ask OBGYN about it, so now I know what to ask for if I am indeed not PG. Thanks again!!
