The second "first" angelversary

I am Jewish and today is the 16th of Nissan on the Jewish calendar (it's a lunar calendar). Alice was born today 1 year ago. I already passed her 1 year angelversary on the secular calendar on March 27th. It still hurts so much and I miss her everyday.

We went out to the cemetery to see her today and left polished stones on her grave (Jews leave a stone on the grave marker when they visit). I purchased polished stones to leave at her grave because I wanted her to have something pretty and not boring regular stones. I bought my daughter rocks...I hate this.

I'm so sorry. We just got back from our first support group meeting. Another mom there has been buying her son gifts for Christmas and his birthday. She keeps them but we were thinking of doing this and donating them. I think I would like (even though it will be sad) to do to help us keep him a part of our traditions. It's so important to me that we remember him and don't forget him.

So sorry you're going through this no one will ever understand it unless you go through it but if nothing else try to believe that Alice loved the pretty rocks you chose as any small child would find joy in the simple things and she knows they're from you so they are 'special rocks' xoxo

FWiw, I have a bowl of polished stones that I keep on Jesse's bookshelf for their beauty and for a little magical whimsy- I keep them where we keep the memory box from the hospital, his urn, candles and a few figurines. When my niece comes over, the stones are the only thing in the entire hour that interest her. She loves to touch them, pour them from one bowl to another and pick each one up and roll it in her little hands. She is just turning 4.

Alice knows that no matter the gift, it is given with unending and boundless love
