High Risk Check in April 17th!

Good morning ladies.  I wanted to get this up before I started running around today so everyone can see it!

How are you doing this week? Anything big to updates?

Rants/Raves?

When is your next appointment?

Any big milestones?

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO?

Re: High Risk Check in April 17th!

  • How are you doing this week? Anything big to updates? I have been feeling good this week, which scares me ha ha. I always feel like I am waiting for the ball to drop with this pregnancy. I finally felt her starting to move in the last few days which is awesome.  DH even felt one faint pop as well! Of course, with all the movement comes with an irritable uterus. I just need to take this pregnancy day by day!

Rants/Raves? I think because she is going to start growing so much in the next few weeks my ligaments have been super sore.  I have also been getting stronger Braxton Hicks, but just trying to remind myself that they are a normal part of pregnancy and so far they have been infrequent and short. I am pretty excited to be able to feel her this early, despite having an anterior placenta! Oh and yay for an almost 4 cm cervix at my last appointment, I hope it is staying that way!

When is your next appointment? My next appointment isn't until May 2nd, my anatomy scan and then they go to every two week cervical measurements...so about another 2 weeks.

Any big milestones? Not yet, it my mind I have a count down to 24 weeks because that is when alot of the issues came up with DS's pregnancy.

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO? I am hoping to try for a natural birth with a midwife this time in the hospital. With DS, I had an epidural (which with the outcome I am glad I did), but I am hopeful with the help of our doula, midwife, and it being a second pregnancy she won't get stuck under my pelvis!

This has been a pretty tough week. I was walking home from the park on Sunday and had a partial placental abruption. I felt a pop and thought my water broke because I felt gushing. I looked down to see a puddle of blood. I was rushed to the hospital and lost quite a bit of blood. They put me on mag which stopped contractions and slowed the bleeding significantly.

There really isn't anything anyone can do at this point except for me. The babe is so far doing well, but only 18 weeks. It will just be a wait and see until the baby comes. Hopefully that includes months of waiting, but i'm having a hard time feeling optimistic.

Other than that, feeling ok. My husband and family have been amazing and life is good. I'm excited for the Easter distraction this weekend! One of my favorite holidays.

  • This week was up and down. We found out we are team pink. But Tuesday I ended up in the ER with spotting and cramping. Everything was fine no idea what caused it.
No rants really I'm mostly happy baby is healthy.
I'm seeing an ob I really want to get a doula at some point.

  • @MelNV I'm so sorry that happened to you.  Are you still in the hospital or were you able to go home?
@dezbear I'm glad that everything turned out fine.  Hoping that doesnt happen again.

This last week has been tough for me.  I had a head cold with fever and chills this weekend which  turned into an upper respiratory infection since I was being stubborn and not taking anything other than Tylenol to control the fever/pain.  I ended up on a Z-Pac since they were worried it would turn into bronchitis if left untreated and I feel a lot better but still not back to normal.
As far as baby goes, I have my 20 week checkup with OB today then my AS on Monday so looking forward to both of those and checking on my little pumpkin.  They're doing a cervical length check at my appt on Monday and if cervix looks good then I will no longer need to be monitored by MFM.

    doing good, no updates really

    Rants/Raves?
my nails look glorious.  Thank you, prenatals!

    When is your next appointment?
    Monday

    Any big milestones?
Anatomy scan Monday, can't wait to see how dude is growing!  <3

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO?
My OB is awesome and I could never thank him enough for helping me along my first crazy pg journey and giving me super confidence with this one, despite the odds.  I'm hoping for whatever type of birth will result in my baby arriving into this world safely!

@MeNV @dezbear thinking of you, take it easy everyone!! **hugs**

  • @MeNV, been thinking about you, I hope everything settles down.

How are you doing this week? Anything big to updates?  Doing ok this week.  My SPD pain has generally been a lot better, so that's nice.  Had a regular OB appointment yesterday and everything looked good, but for some reason now I'm incredibly anxious and kind of freaking out.  I think because this was my first OB appointment that was really routine and felt just like the appointments I had last time, which led to surprise PPROM at 32 weeks.  I guess it makes me a little anxious that this appointment wasn't different to reassure me that things would be different this time.  I dunno.  But the Makena shots are going well and should help.

Think it would be weird to ask my OB to check me for infections at every appointment?  Because it's seeming more and more like I had an infection last time but didn't know it, so I want to make sure I don't get another symptomless one.  Also, I scheduled the procedure to remove the Bartholin's cyst I've developed, that'll be in about 2 weeks.

Rants/Raves?  DH has been an awesome injection-giver, lol.  He has a really steady hand, and these shots hurt way less than I expected them to.

When is your next appointment?  Had one yesterday, cyst removal will be on the 2nd, then anatomy scan on the 7th.

Any big milestones?  Lots more movement now, which is reassuring.  This little guy swims around a lot, whereas DD would usually chill in one place and kick me in the same spot over and over.  This dude bounces all over the place.

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO?  I'm seeing an OB and an MFM.  I'm hoping for a delivery like last time - in a hospital, vaginal with an epidural.  I loved my delivery last time.

  • @LTMama, when you mean check for infection do you mean like a pap smear or like urine sample? I would think they probably wouldn't want to do a PAP at every appointment because the more they bother that area, they could cause an infection just as easily. I think that is often why even if people are having contractions, they don't want to check people to see if they are dilated for fear of inducing more irritation/infection.

With that said, I completely understand your feelings of freaking out. The farther I get along, my mind just reverts back to the scary place it was with DS.

I forgot to post last week about what my doula said and it has become my mantra for this pregnancy-Different pregnancy, different baby. Every pregnancy and baby will have it's own story to tell and hopefully we can remember it fondly. When I am struggling or freaking out, I repeat this over and over to myself. It has really helped me to try to relax.

I hope things continue to go well for you =).

@MeNV‌ I'm so sorry you are going though this! I'm glad they were able to get things to stop. Are you home or on bed rest? Hoping for positive updates soon!

@emmylu30‌ Sorry you have been feeling lousy. With both my pregnancy with Ds and now with this little boy I was sick early on with walking pneumonia. It was so hard to take antibiotics. I was so nervous that I would harm the baby. But all worked out okay.

@dezbear‌ I am sorry you had that scare, it yeah for a baby girl!

How are you doing this week? Anything big to updates?

Feeling good. Getting some Braxton Hicks....or at least that's what I think they are....that are pretty strong. Only feeling LO move once in a while. Hoping that picks up soon.

     Rants/Raves?

My rant for the week was getting hit with a $300 bill at my car dealership when I just went for an oil change and inspection. Ugh! On spring break this week and trying to get so much done...which is good...but I'm running out of time! We had 5 days removed because of snow. Definitely looking forward to Easter with DS and his "special day" at daycare for month of the young child.

     When is your next appointment?

Next appt is my 20 week sono next Thurs. My high risk doc is an idiot....said he doesn't need to see me anymore despite my long history....my OB has me switching to the other two docs in the high risk office so I have to wait for his call as to when that appt is.

     Any big milestones?

I'll be halfway to the end next Tues!

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO?

I'm a scheduled c-section based on my medical history, no choice in it for me, sadly. I did great with my first c so I'm hopeful this one will go as easily in terms of recovery, I am sad I will never experience labor and delivery in the natural sense.

  • suitern, thank you for that.  That's a great mantra, and I'll be using it!

I just meant a swab for infection, not a pap.  They did one at my last appt and found I had group G strep (still have to read about that - I initially misunderstood and thought it was group B strep, but the OB corrected me yesterday) and had no symptoms but needed treatment.  That makes me a bit nervous, since it seems like twice I may have had infections with no symptoms.  I'm going in on the 2nd for the cyst procedure so I'll ask the OB about that.  But yes, different pregnancy, different baby!  Must chill...

  • How are you doing this week?

I've been feeling pretty good! I have a lot more aches and pains this time around but I think that's from hauling DD around haha

    Anything big to updates?

    No updates!

    Rants/Raves?

I don't feel nearly as much movement with this little man as I did with DD. I'm attributing that to the fact that I'm 30lbs heavier this time around. It still stinks.... I loves feeling her all the time!

    When is your next appointment?

I have a MFM apt on the 25th and a hematologist apt on the 1st.

    Any big milestones?

    20 weeks today!

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO?

I see a high risk OB but they have midwives that rotate around through the less risky patients haha. A midwife delivered DD and it was great. I was in a hospital and because of my factor V I am induced at 39 weeks. It will be the same this time around although I would love to not be in active labor for 45 hours and push for 5, it worked out well in the end!!

  • Hey ladies, sorry I missed this yesterday.

How are you doing this week? Anything big to updates? I am doing pretty awesome this week. I had an appointment on Wednesday. Baby girl is looking awesome and currently weighs about 8 oz. My cervix is currently measuring 3.9!!!! Very excited about that.

Rants/Raves? Rants: I am sooooo constipated! Also, had a reacting to the compounded suppositories as well so there is nothing left to do but put me on the P17 shots which I will start next week. Raves: My cervix. See above.

When is your next appointment? Wednesday the 30th. Another cervical check and my a/s.

Any big milestones? not at the moment.

GTKY: Are you seeing an OB, midwife, or other? What type of birth are you hoping to have with this LO? I see a high risk OB. I will be having a hospital birth and just hoping that it's fairly uneventful and baby is healthy!
I think it is pretty great that we can rave about our cervix length in this check in ha ha =). I am hopeful mine is just as long in two weeks!
