Lefty is jammed?

I double pump while I'm at work and all of a sudden my left boob just won't express as much milk. It's hard and full and the pump is pulling my nipple but no milk is coming out.

Re: Lefty is jammed?

  • did you check the pump parts? sometimes if the membrane isn't in all the way the suction will be really weak.

is your LO able to empty that breast? if not, it could be a blocked duct.

  • Definitely check your membrane to make sure there isn't a rip/hole in it and to be sure it's in all the way. Massage and use heat while pumping or nursing in case of a clogged duct. Also try massaging and hand expressing in the shower it you suspect a clogged duct. Check your nipple for a white spot, which could be a milk blister blocking a nipple pore. If you see one, you can soak your nipple in warm water before nursing to open it up. Hopefully LO will be able to drain your breast. I had a few days at work when I had a clog that wouldn't pump out and DD was able to clear it when I got home.

Agree with PPs it sounds like a clogged duct. You can also dangle feed while you nurse/pump with the heat and massage. Or after a hot shower
