What does it mean when the doc says my cervix are a fingertip?

I am 34.3 weeks. I have been on high risk pregnancy from where I had my son at 33weeks. & have been on bed rest since I was 17weeks because my cervix were short. Last week my doctor checked me & she said my cervix were a fingertip and really thin? She says it won't take much to put me into labor. I wasn't sure what she meant by my cervix being a fingertip, any advice? Thank you
