I would call your dr, they will tell you if you should go to L&D. There is a swab test they can do to tell if it's actually amniotic fluid leaking. Good luck!
If you keep soaking pads then it's probably a leak. If you do, then go to l&d and they will test it. With my first daughter I had a big gush that soaked through my pants and down my leg and everything... it was at 39 weeks so I want sure if it was my water or not and I went to the hospital. It ended up being just discharge which is crazy to me because it was so much! I'd try the pad thing first
I got out of the car the other day and thought that happened to me. I called and they wanted me in right away just to make sure so I would call your doctor. Mine went through my underwear but wasn't like running down or anything. Turned out to be nothing and I'm pretty sure the nurse thought I peed myself lol. Was kind of embarrassing but I'm glad I went because if it was that then they need to monitor it.
I thought I was leaking last week. When I called the on-call OB, she told me to go straight to ER/L&D to get checked (they have 2 tests they can do to determine if you are). Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between waters, urine, sweat, etc. so there is no reason to risk it. Luckily, in my case, it was just baby resting on my bladder. Go get checked ASAP.
When mine leaked it just keeping coming out and dripping down my legs. I called my dr and because it was early in the morning they had me go to L&D and swabbed me
There is such thing as a high tear in your water bag. Are you contracting?? How long has it been happening? These are all questions they're likely going to ask.
Either way- call your doctor to go to L&D (for all the reasons PP have mentioned). Everyone amniotic fluid smells different but it will NOT smell like urine.
When my water was leaking in my first pregnancy they told me to empty my bladder as much as I could then stand up and cough. If more fluid came out its most likely your water. It has a definite different smell as well. Almost sweetly metallic or something. I'll never forget that smell, but it's totally different than urine. I'd still call your dr and see what they want you to do. It's better safe than sorry.
This happened with DS. I kept telling them it wasn't pee. I would stand in the bathroom and it would come rubbig down my leg. This was a Thursday and I showered and went to L&D. I was sent home after a swab and tested negative. Well I was admitted Friday afternoon to be monitored for the weekend and same thing happened Saturday morning. I wasn't going to have them test again but did and it was my water!! I just didn't shower and was told that could've affected the test Thursday!
When mine broke last time (slow leak) I sat on the toilet for a minute and plugged my urethra with one piece of TP and my vag with another. It was pretty easy to tell which hole it was coming out of...
I started leaking in the night and thought I peed the bed at first. I went to the bathroom and put on a pad. I laid down for 5 minutes and then stood up and it soaked my pad. I went to L&D and my water had broke
With my DS my water broke, but then he shifted down and blocked it a lot so I never really soaked any pads- I actually thought it was pee. With DD it was giant gushes down leg filling my shoes as I walked. You never know and it's best it get it checked out to be sure.
