Baby wearing STM+

I love my Ergo, but want something cooler to wear in the summer months in the newborn stage. I was interested in the Baby K'Tan Breeze because it seems a lot easier than a Moby, but then I found the Solly wrap online and that seems maybe easier than a Moby, but also soft and more "airy" for a cooler baby. Anyone have experience with either of these two? (Baby K'Tan Breeze vs. Solly)

Thanks!

  • I don't with either of those but I did buy a Wrapsody Duo for this LO. Its supposed to be perfect for summer weather, beach wearing and can get wet. It appears to be a Lycra type of fabric.

Hmm... that looks interesting. We're big beach people, so I like that aspect.

Haha! This video says it all. The moby wrap made me feel like an idiot. I'm sticking to my Ergo & sling but considering the K'tan breeze now. Thanks for reposting @joules235

  • I love my Solly Wrap. I would highly recommend!
  • Thanks ladies! I actually already have the K'Tan, too, but thought it might be too warm for a summer baby. The Solly didn't seem too intimidating, but I might stick with the K'Tan Breeze, we'll see.

  • I have a p-sling ring sling and I love it for my 2 year old. I started putting him in it around 7 months and it was awesome. I still like wrapping for infants though.
  • @joules235

Glad I'm not the only one who had trouble getting that darn moby on!

The sling I was gifted at my shower a few years ago (I can't for the life of me think of the brand) is really simple with minimal fabric. I used my ergo much more frequently though so I honestly can't remember if I had any issues with the sling as far as weight disbursement. I don't remember feeling like my son wasn't secure but he for sure felt more secure in the ergo. I anticipate baby wearing much more often this time around with a toddler to chase after!

  • I got a K'Tan Breeze after doing some research and trolling on the Nurseries and Baby Gear Board. The Wrapsody Duo was also mentioned as great for warmer weather by other posters there too. Sorry, I can't say I've used either yet but I'm waiting to see how I'll like the K'Tan before I make a decision to get the Duo also.

I used the original K'tan with my 3 girls and loved it! Now that baby is due in June and we are are in south TX I am considering the Breeze (this didn't exist when I first bought my K'tan 5 years ago).

My only debate is which size to order. My original is a M but I have since lost about 30lbs btwn then and this pregnancy. My new suggested size according to the website is a Small but the reviews say the Breeze doesn't stretch as much as the original and to buy a size bigger. So I am thinking of sticking to a M due to decreased flexibility of the fabric.

I've never heard of the Solly.

ETA: I'd love advice on sizing for those who bought the Breeze. I'm 5'3" and was 132lbs pre-pregnancy.
  • Im getting the K'tan Breeze this time. I had the Moby last time, but usually had to put it on before I left the house and it was really hot. Summer (and Fall) in Miami are no joke, so I want something cool.

FYI - the white one is only $40 on Amazon.

Yep, I'll have to wash it more often, but I'm going to be doing almost daily laundry anyway. I have the Ergo for bigger baby and LOVE it. We baby-wear a lot, and I have a feeling we'll be wearing even more this time around since DD still uses the stroller sometimes and we walk everywhere - school, store, grandparents' house, beach, etc.
  • I am getting a ktan breeze :) (in addition to my tula and ergo ;) )

  • The only thing about the k'tan and moby and silly wraps is that they're outgrown so quickly. The stretchy material is good up until about 15 or so pounds even though they say it's safe up to something like 30? It just starts to feel I supportive. I would go with the k'tan between the two you've listed.

A ring sling is a really great option because there isn't as much fabric and there isn't much of a learning curve. Some woven wraps like a little frog or C&C are only about $20 more than the k'tan and will last much longer.
  • K'tan breeze here too! I have the Moby, but it does not breathe! I have the ergo for when baby is bigger, and I also have an Infantino that I never use.

  • @xnbride!! How is your little girl?
  • I mostly use woven wraps and find thin wovens to be as cool as anything out there.  The best advice is to see if you have a babywearing group near you so that you can try out some different options and find what's comfy.  I have lots of babywearing info in my siggy as well for anyone who needs it.

Me too @mandy2696‌! I felt like the Moby was laughing at me when I tried it out. I got a K'tan and have messed with it a few times and I absolutely love the ease of it. I also got a Serena&Lily sling that I'm excited to use :)
  • Does anyone have reviews on the Breeze sizing?
  • Yes my original one is a bit big now on me. I think I'll stick to the same size for the breeze though based on the mesh.
  • Just bought this fabric to make my own version of the maya baby wrap for Vivian! I didn't baby wear with dd1 so I'm super excited! It's a super light and cool fabric I think cotton and rayon (sp?, I'm new to the fabric game)

  • I have an Ergo (and love it for when baby is a little bigger!) and just sold my Moby in favor of the K'tan. I am really excited to try it out!
