Introduction (I can't believe I'm on this board!) :-)

Hi there!

DH and I are expecting di-di twin boys on September 7th. Currently in my 19th week. We're both super excited! As a NICU nurse, the first few weeks were tough mentally for me. While of course very excited, it's hard to unknow and unsee what I deal with at my job, so from our 8 week u/s when we learned about our twins until the 12 week u/s, I spent a lot of time praying and crying, just wanting everything to be okay for our babies.

The 12 week u/s was a sigh of relief for me. I was so happy to see we still had two babies on board and that everything was looking good! We got to see that we had two little boys on board at our 16 week u/s and they were growing and measuring the same size. So far, I'm feeling good overall. As a night shift nurse, it's tough having a bit of a backwards schedule two nights a week, and working 12 hour shifts. Our doctor has discussed with us how that may become a problem at some point and that I may have to cut back, so we'll see. We have a 19 month old DD as well.

I tried posting an intro from my ipad a few weeks back but after thinking it was posted, it somehow was gone all together (grrrrr!!) Just not getting back around to posting from our computer (so much quicker!) I've been lurking for weeks, so it's nice to finally be a part of the board with you all. I've found this board to be a huge source of reassurance and information as I've gone through this pregnancy so thank you all!

Re: Introduction (I can't believe I'm on this board!) :-)

  • Congratulations! I just wanted to say DH is a pediatric pulmonologist and he had a similar reaction to the twins. And now that I'm 25 weeks, (and he keeps thinking about the stages of lung development and what would happen if I gave birth right now) he's incredibly stressed out. Hang in there!

Congratulations and welcome.  Hope you have a healthy rest of your pregnancy.  I have di/di boys as well.  They just turned 5 months...time flies!

ashleysyn2, I didn't find out until late into the pregnancy too!

ETA: formating, though I still can't get it right...
    :)
  • @ashleysyn2‌ @schesky‌ - What a surprise (and shock) that must've been to find out half way through! @dmurrie‌ - I'm glad others can relate to knowing what it's like being in healthcare. As a pulmonologist I can see how he would definitely stress about it. As a NICU nurse, when asked "how far along are you?" I respond with "19 and 2" and people look at me funny. I have no clue how many months I am - we just don't think that way, haha. People in the healthcare field are a different breed, I swear :-)

  • I'm a NICU nurse as well! I have 9 month old mono-di boys. I had the same experience with worrying- except for me it got worse again around 22-26 weeks, you can probably understand why! I had a small ptl issue at 28 weeks that bought me 2 nights in the hospital, terbutaline, mag, and my beta shots, and one at 31 weeks. I started working 8 hour shifts instead of 12's at 32 weeks and at 33 and 6 I left work early and started my maternity leave. I delivered at 34 and 1 and they spent 10 days in the unit where I work.

Are you at a delivery facility, children's hospital, or combination? What level?

Congrats on your littles, prayers for a healthy set of term babies!
