Feeling meh about Easter baskets

Am I the only one who doesn't really want to do an Easter basket for LO? She is our first, so it's not like we have to do it because of an older sibling. I just keep thinking, what's the point? Unless she looks back in her baby book later and asks why we were such slackers on her first Easter...

Re: Feeling meh about Easter baskets

  • Eh, I briefly thought about int, but then thought what's the point, really?  Just put them in a cute outfit and take some pictures.  Of course, I'm not a big easter person so there's that.

  • We aren't doing one this year. I don't see the point. We didnt do much for Xmas either. When she gets older, we will certainly put more effort into it. But at this point, all the hullabaloo would be for us, and we don't care thAt much about it.

  • We didn't do one for DDs first Easter, we're only doing one for DS because of DD

  • Most of what I got for Nikitas was for props in photos I took.  Otherwise it wasnt much.  She got plenty from relatives :)  Now this time I have to be sure theres enough to be convincing for Jadzia...else Nikita will have questions ;)
  • I'll do a small one for her since I'm doing one for DD1.

  • We are doing a small one, but only because ds1 will notice and be upset if brother doesn't have a basket too.

  • It's Polish tradition to have your Easter basket blessed the day before Easter. We always did one for this reason. Since both DH and LO will have their own baskets this year, I think I will make a big "family basket" with items that will go in each of theirs and get that blessed. (Mostly bc I don't think I can get it together to have the kids' baskets finished by Sat morning!)
  • We are doing one because Jack will notice and get upset if she doesn't have one too. It will have a few books and a teether in it. No big deal.

    Big brother looking out! :-D

  • We aren't doing one. When DD gets older, we will. For now we're just going to put her in a pretty dress and take pictures.
  • We did a small basket with some things we normally get DS (puffs, yogurt melts). The only thing extra we got was a bottle of bubbles. We opened baskets yesterday (since we're traveling for Easter) and he absolutely loved the bubbles.
    I don't think it's a big deal to skip a basket.
  • He's getting one from my parents but my husband and I don't celebrate Easter so we won't be doing anything. When he is older we might make it a special day where he gets some kind of treat but that's it.

I'm decorating and ordering cupcakes and a smash cake for his birthday and my husband thinks it's over the top though. We are pretty low key with any holiday.
  • We're doing one, but we're skipping egg coloring and an egg hunt. Technically my inlaws are having a small egg hunt for him, but we're not going to a big, public one.
  • We do an egg hunt with all the kids in DH family. We are going over Friday to color 9 dozen eggs. And great grandma gets all the kids 18 and under baskets.

My parents will do a basket for the five kids so I'm not doing one for mine.

  • I made up an Easter basket of things he semi needed and a few small toys, puffs, etc. I didn't put any candy in it for obvious reasons. I honestly did it because I didn't do much at Christmas and looking back I wish I had photos of him with some presents and I don't.

We are doing one but it's simple -
Puffs, pepsi, bubbles and a first Easter book. I spent a small fortune on the basket itself from PB but that's more for pictures than function!

Still don't know why TB is logging me from my old knot account. Anywho.

  • I am doing one but I put puffs...a stuffed cat and a new sippy cup in. NBD.
We are not big Easter people.

    Bonus:

  • I am in team doing one but only because his big brother will want him to have one.

It will have a book, stuff he needs (PJs are a great idea @mermomo5‌ ) and possibly some toys we already own ! We have too much plastic& plush in this house already. I will not add more stuff that I will end up having to clean.

I did a basket but only put in a toy, socks, a can of puffs and some PJs.  It really was more for me than for E.  But Steve's family is totally part of Team Overachiever.  I'm dreading the baskets that she will get from them...all of them.  We are talking 4-5 baskets.  Ugh.

  • I didn't do a basket for my oldest child's first Easter. I took some cute pictures of him wearing bunny ears and surrounded by plastic Easter eggs, but that was it. DD is only getting a basket this year so the older kids don't think the bunny forgot her.

This to the max. My sisters have also gotten Allison things. I bought a small basket and put a couple of small things in there. I am sure she will like playing with the plastic eggs the most.

This. My MIL is making him one.
  • MH and I waited so long for a baby and a family of our own we get excited about every holiday and milestone. Even if he won't remember, it's a fun memory for us.

LO's basket is just going to have stuff I'd already get him anyway: a sippy cup, some books and toys, plus a rabbit MIL bought him. We'll take pictures and go to Easter brunch.

I wasn't going to do big kid stuff like dyeing eggs or a hunt--but I'm rethinking the Easter egg hunt. I've been hiding LO's toys around the house just to keep him occupied and it's really worked. He is do curious and always rummaging through everything anyway. So I think I will hide a few eggs and maybe fill them with yogurt drops.

    This is so cute!! :)
  • FFTC: I am kinda excited about Easter! I just like holidays, I guess--it's fun to do a little something special, especially since DS1 gets excited :)  I put their Easter baskets together yesterday--I got the personalized "baskets" (more like buckets, really) from PBK--but they screwed up the names--see how Landon's 'L' is smaller than the rest of the letters, by a good half inch?  It's really weird.  And Caleb's name is much smaller than Landon's. Nobody doing quality control, clearly.  I called their customer service and they gave me a refund, so they ended up being free.

We just did small stuff in them--Annie's bunny crackers and mac n cheese, socks, bubbles, sippy cup, a little candy, and an Easter book in Landon's, and a stuffed lamb, Easter book, bath toy, puffs and yogurt drops in Caleb's. We are dying eggs on Saturday and will do a little backyard Easter egg hunt on Sunday :) It's supposed to be 70 degrees!

  • Good thing we don't even have a baby book for Giles to look at and see we were slackers.

Glad I'm not the only one!
  • We will have baskets for all the kids. Older kids will have chocolate and stuff plus a book and maybe a shirt or something. Allie will get puffs, yogurt bites and maybe a new cup or toy, not too much. Our egg hunt is the little foil wrapped eggs. I'm sure my mom will have something for them too....

  • Since my kids already have every toy ever invented, I made the baby a basket with snacks in it. It has juice, puffs, yogurt melts, cookies, and the crunchie snacks. I figure I was going to buy the snacks anyway so I might as well just use them. I bought an Easter bucket from Walmart and some grass for $2 total.
  • This is (the only) reason I am glad we are headed to the inlaws.  MIL will go nuts so I plan to just sit back.

  • We are doing one. It looks to be everyone is 50/50 on this. My family really wants to do something but my husband is adamant they don't. His family never did anything for kids (not his parents but aunts and gparents) so he isn't accustomed to what my family does. It's sad I had to tell then
No bc it doesn't bother me at all. Now with that said it is beach toys, sunglasses, yogurt melts, Reece's for the dh, a bunny, the little mermaid (in building her movie collection slowly even though she has no interest in electronics at all), a high chair toy, and teething cookies. So it's stuff I would have bought anyways. Mostly.
