The FB post got me thinking "How do you put LO get to sleep". Sometimes LO will go to sleep by me rocking him and other times he will only go to sleep if he is drinking from a bottle.

Re: Sleep?

  • Transitioning to sippy cup from bottles is going to be rough with our bed/sleep routine.  If I lay her in her crib, she will cry some and eventually go to sleep.  Sometimes it's 1 minute, sometimes 20...  I knew I should have taught her how to fall asleep by herself long ago, but I like our cuddle time too much!

  • @kelly422 - I need to start letting him fall sleep in his crib too. I've been lazy because he is my last baby so I'm enjoying the cuddles while I can.

  • We did CIO for a couple of evenings (not in the MOTN) when she was 7 months and never looked back. She goes to sleep on her own and sleeps 11-12 hours every night since.

  • I hold him and give him a bottle.  Sometimes he falls asleep in my arms and other times he's drowsy but awake.
  • She rarely nurses to sleep anymore, so sometimes there's a bit of crying but most nights she just quietly falls asleep on her own. Naps are a different story - there's a lot of crying for naps (unless I walk her in the stroller, and I not going to get in the habit of doing that daily...)

  • All of the above. It is different each time.

  • I put goes to sleep by himself although that is only true for bedtime and MOTN. During the day he falls asleep while nursing and rocking. I don't know why he won't put himself to sleep during the day. :-/

  • G has nursed to sleep until today, when we went cold turkey off the boob due to biting. This morning she cried herself to sleep in my arms, and she can't calm herself down for her afternoon nap despite my best singing and rocking. But she did finally gulp down 2 oz in a sippy. Tonight I expect hysteria and many tears, from both of us. Girl doesn't self soothe. :(

You have my deepest sympathy. I tried to wean cold turkey a couple weeks ago I was not strong enough and cried my eyes out. I hope it's not too bad for you.

  • I said nursing, but the last two nights he's gone to sleep on his own! I hope it's a trend!

  • We read to him while he drinks his bottle. Then put him in his crib and he'll fall asleep, if he hasn't passed out already. DH puts him to bed on most nights so he likes to savor the rocking, reading, snuggle cuddles. I'm totally fine with that. He can put himself to sleep since i make him do that for his naps.

  • I said bottle, but most nights after his bottle we lie down with him in our bed until he falls asleep. Once he falls asleep we move Jim to his own room. We really need to get on practicing getting him to sleep on his own....is it wrong that we enjoy the cuddles way too much?

I voted what we do for the night, which is bottle.  For naps, we usually cuddle or rock him.
