Nutritional nesting?

Ok this is gonna sound nuts, but has anyone felt compelled to start eating crazy healthy in their last few weeks of pregnancy?

I swear all I want to eat at the moment is fruit, veg and other healthy stuff. Sounds great but this totally isn't like me. I have a pretty carby/junky diet (although I'm a veggie), so seeing a fridge full of fruit, veg and dips is freaking me out.

I feel like my body is telling me to clean up my act because it wants to get all oiled up and clean for the big day. I don't even miss junk. This is not like me.

Anyone else?

  • I wish I was but nope...I ate pretty healthy for the majority of this pregnancy but now I want all the junk food.
  • There were onions on my quarter pounder last night... That's a vegetable right? Truthfully I wish that was the case for me but it's been a lot of Reese's Eggs and cheese in my world lately.
  • Nope, total opposite. I ate very healthy up until a few weeks ago and now it's just what the hell ever. I do have my fruit smoothie in the morning, but after that it's just whatever I feel like.

  • I just brought DD to an Easter party.  I ate a cupcake, cake pop, rice crispy square, chocolate and some candy.

  • I was like this in first tri, I craved all the salads and baby carrots (so weird). It hasn't happened to me though in third tri before. Maybe it will. I would be thrilled if it did bc right now all I want is brownies and Easter candy.

  • I almost feel back to my normal eating, which is definitely way more healthy than what I have been stuffing my face with the past 8 months.  I ate wild salmon for dinner last night (and enjoyed it) and have been craving avocados and oranges lately.  Definitely beats craving pop tarts.  This all being said, I still ate a chocolate glazed donut from dunkin yesterday :)  I also hear someone brought in chocolate chip cookies to work...

    I feel like I cycle through.  I'll eat junk for a few days and then I really want fruit & veggies.   I have been eating fruit non-stop the past few days.

    1st BFP-8/17/12!  Missed Miscarriage discovered @ 8 week US.  D&C.
    2nd BFP-2/13/13!  Blighted Ovum discovered @ 8 week US. Natural miscarriage.
    3rd BFP-5/22/13!  By early June, progesterone plummeting.  Another loss.
    August 2013 - started Donor Egg process, but surprise BFP with my own eggs.

  • I'm going one way or another within the day. Some times all I want is fruit and veg then I get a huge craving for something salty or sweet! It's weird but at least I'm balancing it out :) lol

  • I've been like you for a couple weeks- I think it's because I need water. All I've wanted is fruit, fresh vegetables and coconut water. And chocolate.

    This is me. I was good with eating well until a couple weeks ago. I had no desire for anything fast food and I just stopped today for a burger and fries after my OB appt. plus this bowl of Easter candy next to me isn't helping.
  • I just had hot chicken wings, munchers, cheese sticks, mac and cheese, and patatoe wedges - washed down with a pepsi. I haven't craved this stuff like I do now.

  • First Trimester: Need to have allllllll the healthy food.




    Second Trimester: Quantity over quality.




    Third Trimester: Whatever sounds good at the time, which has mostly been junk speckled with some healthy stuff.

  • I started out this pregnancy not wanting to eat anything.... Since second trimester it's been junk, grease, crap, sugar, ice cream, cookie dough, chocolate and milk. At least the milk part is healthy.

    Dh is gone for dinner tonight, I literally just are greasy mozzarella sticks for dinner. Thinking about cookie dough for dessert. How am I not huge???

  • I've started eating healthier because my reflux is getting harder to control. Also because I've already gained 6 of the 10 lbs I'm allowed this pregnancy but haven't been able to work out as much because of RLP and contrax. Basically I had no choice. :/

  • Yes! Craving veggies and fruit all day. It's Cucumbers for me. But this isn't to off from what I normally eat. First tri I used cucumbers to help with nausea.
  • Yep. It happened toward the end of my first pregnancy as well. Although this time, it started a little sooner.
  • I'm totally feeling the same way! (With some chocolate mixed in.)

  • I've also been having GI issues these last few days. Nausea, soft "urgent" pooping. I hope this isn't a sign she's coming soon. As much as I want to meet her, I've got stuff to do!

  • I go back and forth, really junky day then I crave a giant salad.

    I have been finally trending back to my normal cravings for healthy food and craving a ton of fruit, salads, organic fresh juices, and iced herbal teas but again this is what life used to be before I got preggo and had bad ms. I still have pretty heavy food aversions though and my appetite has been crap this whole time. I never got that insatiable hunger stage or I want to eat all the crap stage and kind of feel like I missed out. Food has basically become this annoying thing I have to make decisions about multiple times a day.
