Pumping mom's check-in

Hadn't seen one in a while.
1. How many times are you pumping?
2. What is your output per session?
3. Any supply questions or issues?
4. Has LO decreased, increased, or kept drinking the same amount?

And go!

Re: Pumping mom's check-in

  • 1. 3x a day on weekdays
    2. 4 to 5 oz.
    3. Feels like my supply is decreasing a bit
    4. LO is taking 10 to 12 oz and is at DC for about 10 hours. This is the same as usual.

  • 1. 2-3x at work and right before bed.
    2. Output varies a lot, but I generally get 12-16 ounces a day.
    3. Supply seems to be decreasing a bit but I'm hoping our little mini vacation has helped it (less stress, more time with LO). I've been using my freezer stash too much lately.
    4. She was drinking 20 oz at daycare until Feb, and it's been about 16 oz a day at daycare since then.

I'm very excited to stop pumping in a few months.

    I pump 2x per day for a daily total of 3oz :(

LO is drinking more recently, but he still prefers drinking calories to eating and that's ok.

  • Hadn't seen one in a while.
    1. How many times are you pumping? 3-4x/day when I work, just once when I don't.
    2. What is your output per session? 12-16 oz the first one, 10-12 the other two. If I pump before bed usually just 4 oz.
    3. Any supply questions or issues? I feel like its decreasing some, which is fine since my freezer stash is embarrassingly large. Like breastmilk hoarders.
    4. Has LO decreased, increased, or kept drinking the same amount? The boys have pretty much stayed the same, taking 16ish oz/ each per day at daycare. The number of bottles hasn't changed, nor has the number of sessions on days I don't work.

  • 1. How many times are you pumping?
    3-4.

    2. What is your output per session?

It varies from 2-3oz with a usual total of around 10oz

    3. Any supply questions or issues?

My output has dropped from about 12oz to around 10oz over the last few weeks. I'm really not sure why.

    4. Has LO decreased, increased, or kept drinking the same amount?

We went up to level 2 nipples at the advice of DDs speech pathologist and she increased her intake from 12oz to 15oz. At this rate-I'm blowing through my freezer stash.

I only work 3 days a week so I'm not sure where things stand supply wise since my pumping output has decreased. I also am now pumping with my friend at work and she is like a dairy cow-lucky girl.

  • 1. How many times are you pumping? 3 x a day Mon-Thurs

    2. What is your output per session? 3-5 oz (typically average right around 12 oz per day)

    3. Any supply questions or issues?  My supply seems to be tanking a bit, but that's because he's been waking to nurse at night so I don't get as much from my morning pump session.  Also he tends to cluster feed at night when I'm around, so I think maybe my body has adjusted to meet his needs?

    4. Has LO decreased, increased, or kept drinking the same amount?  He drinks about the same amount, though he seems to get more distracted nursing, hence wants to nurse more often which can be annoying.  Still drinking 15 oz at daycare, but now I also send two solid meals (one fruit, one vegetable)

  • hugs, @MRads--I feel your pain with the tanking supply :(

    1. pump 4-5 times a day during the work day (only able to do it that much since I work from home and just leave my pump out all the time)

    2. output is anywhere from 7-10 oz per day (LO takes about 15 oz per day--three 5 oz bottles (plus his solids), so we do one bottle of formula for DC, and use milk from the freezer if needed to fill the other two bottles). Freezer supply is almost gone though. Have maybe 30-40 oz in there?

    3. No questions, really--I don't supplement with bottles at all on the weekends, just nurse on demand, about every three hours, sometimes less. So I guess I either don't let down as much to the pump as I do with him, or he doesn't need as much in his bottles--somewhere there's a disconnect. I just don't remember it being this hard with DS1, didn't have any trouble pumping enough each day for his daily bottles and only pumped three times a day to get it.

    4. I think he has decreased a bit as we have increased solids, though he doesn't do a ton of solids--an oz or two of yogurt and some puffs for breakfast, some oatmeal cereal and a pouch for lunch, and just bits of whatever we're having for dinner, maybe a little more puree if I can get the spoon in his mouth :)

  • @DenverBride2005‌ I'm struggling with the same concern with disconnect between pumping at work (3 days) and nursing on demand otherwise.

  • 1. How many times are you pumping?
    Twice 5 days a week
    2. What is your output per session?
    1-2oz per session. 4-5 a day if I'm lucky
    3. Any supply questions or issues?
I've never pumped more that 3 oz both breasts combined in a sitting. I've been supplementing since Oct when I went back to work. My period came a few weeks ago and I've had two sinus infections this year. Depleating the little supply I have. I have to give G a bottle at night because they just isn't any. Trying to come to the point mentally to just stop all together. He does great on Similac Alimentum and I'm proud to have gone this long. Hard to pull the plug I guess
    4. Has LO decreased, increased, or kept drinking the same amount?
He drinks about 5-6oz in a sitting. It's been the same for awhile.

  • I pump twice 7 days a week; every once in a while I nurse during the weekends.

I produce 3-4 oz per session. I use to produce 6. I called the lc and she said to increase my pumping to every 2.5-3 hours, but that's impossible as I have to chase James. I feel like my supply would have done the same thing even if I were nursing... He eats for about 2 minutes then crawls away, and I can only get him to nurse every 4-5 hours.

James drinks about the same; I've had to add 2 bottles of formula per day. First they were 4 oz and now they are 5-6 oz. homeboy is hungry.

  • Glad to see so many still pumping! It's nice to know I'm not alone :) I agree with many of you that I'm excited to be done with my pump...only a few more months.
  • 1. How many times are you pumping?
    3x M-F

    2. What is your output per session?
3-6oz per session. I pump 10-15min and get 12-15oz per day. LO takes about 12oz at the sitters.

    3. Any supply questions or issues?
Not really. I saw a drop in supply over the last two weeks and noticed my pump sounded different (Ameda). I changed ALL parts and plugged in and nothing. Pretty sure the motor was slowly dying. Luckily friends of mine had a brand new never used pump (bf didn't work out for her) and I bought a PISA from them. Supply back up!

    4. Has LO decreased, increased, or kept drinking the same amount? He was at 10oz for a long time but has been consistently at 12oz for about 2 months.
