Netflix vs Amazon Prime

Which do you prefer?  We currently have Netflix for 7.99/month (I don't know if there are different 'levels' or whatever), but I just started a 30 day free trial of Amazon prime and wondering if I should continue with that instead....I guess I could google this but....well....yea.  Anyway.  We watch some movies and current tv shows, which is why Netflix is getting kind of annoying because there's such a lag-time.  We order from Amazon multiple times/year, but usually it totals enough for free shipping anyway.  Amazon prime comes out to 8.25/month so cost really isn't a determining factor...

Any thoughts?  What are your pros/cons about each??

Re: Netflix vs Amazon Prime

  • We have amazon prime for the free shipping and diaper discount. The tv shows are a bonus for us. I don't watch it but DH does. We also rent movies through amazon a lot.

  • We have both--like and use both.   I like them enough that I am considering cancelling cable at least from now until about October since we watch less TV when it's nice out anyway.

  • We have both. We use them both. If I had to choose, I suppose I would keep Amazon Prime because the free shipping is such a nice perk.

We watch so much tv it's not even funny. I got pissed at my cable provider one day and cancelled in a rage and switched to Netflix for a month while we figured out what we wanted to use instead of cable. It's been over a year and we're still totally fine with just Netflix and Amazon Prime. I swear to god if we can give up cable, anyone can.

Of course DH does download things we're too impatient to wait for on Netflix/Prime.  But you can watch ABC/CBS/FOX/ABC/A&E etc online even if you don't have cable.
I think we might just do it! The only thing really holding me up is that we'll still need internet so I need to figure out what I'll do about that first. Our cable company will charge $50 just for internet. Ugh!

  • We have both & use them for different shows & movies. I like both! We do more movies on prime. Especially for Z. DH & I watch shows on netflix at night.

We don't have cable either & get by well on those two. We used to have hulu but I got rid of it because of false advertising- shows I used to watch on there the next day after they aired I had to prove I had cable to watch!!! I was like wtf?! So I cancelled. I miss the current shows but oh well. I just wait until the series airs & binge watch it.

We have both and like both. When we moved to this house we had to many trees for satellite, and to far in the country for cable.

I like that prime has more than one season of freaking Daniel Tiger and they have a lot of the Nick Jr kid shows that Netflix doesn't.  But I'm annoyed that they suck you in to a season or two as part of the membership and then it's like, "Oh you want to watch season 3??  That'll be $20 please."
    This for us too.
