Anyone else still breastfeeding?

Is anyone else still breastfeeding? I have a 12-month old who I've been trying to wean. We were doing great, down to just once a day right before bed. But now for some reason since I became pregnant, she wants to nurse all the time and she's becoming extremely clingy. I suppose this could be just normal 12-month old behavior, but is it possible it's due to the pregnancy? Anyone else dealt with this before?

Re: Anyone else still breastfeeding?

  • I also have a 12 month old that I am trying to wean. I had a really hard time at first. She was crabby and just attached to my hip for a good week or two. I think she knew that I was trying to wean her and she was not too happy about it. But we are finally down to one time a day as well but unlike you mine is in the morning. I think it may be my fault though that she is not completely weaned yet. My DD wakes up around 5:30 and I have the choice to either breastfeed her and she goes right back to sleep for a couple hours or I get my butt out of bed and start the day at 5:30 am and I dreading that!

  • Still breastfeeding my 2 year old but we are very slowly cutting down.

Breastfeeding while pregnant does make me a little nervous since I miscarried last November.  My midwife said that nursing had nothing to do with it but I still can't help but wonder.  Anyway, I have cut WAY back on nursing sessions since then but we are still nursing.  Also, my boobs hurt like hell so I'm hoping she weans soon but I don't want to push her too much.

  • I think in 3rd tri it's not safe to bf but I'm not sure. I'm sorry about your loss :(

I wanted to but DD cut me off around 8 months. I tried pumping for a while but I was going crazy. So I give her a bottle of frozen milk a day until the supply runs out. I always said that once I got pregnant I'd stop anyways

  • I'm still nursing my 17 month old. We're down to 3 times a day but he's been asking a lot more recently, I think because my supply is way down from all the pregnancy hormones. I'm ready to wean but he isn't, so adventures in pregnant bf-ing here we come!

  • I'm still breastfeeding E (just turned 1 last week). He wants to nurse constantly but I think it's because I had a major drop in my supply and he isn't getting much any more.

  • Still nursing my 14 month old, don't plan to force him to wean. I nursed my DD till she quit on her own at 22months when I was 7months pregnant with DS2. It is nice to still have that bond through pregnancy with your current youngest because when the new baby comes your attention will shift and you won't have that "special" time with them anymore. So I would say don't rush to wean them as long as your not high risk

  • We are still nursing. I am not encouraging nursing anymore, but she still nurses a few time during the day and night, despite my crappy supply. I think she would still attempt to nurse even if anything doesn't come out.
  • I'm still nursing my almost 2 year old. She has been super clingy and nursing like a newborn since I found out I was pregnant. I think she knows something is up. We are just rolling with it till she is done.
