Diaper Cakes

My mom and I are throwing my SIL a baby shower. I'd like to make her a diaper cake but am not sure how to attach all the diapers. I didn't have one but I remember some of you saying (after your showers last year) how the maker had used either tape or glue or something that ruined the diapers. What do you recommend to attach the diapers and keep them together?

I roll up the diapers, then put a clear small hair elastic around them. This is the tutorial I have used for both diaper cakes I have made: https://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2007/09/diaper-cake-tutorial.html?m=1
Ooh! That is a great idea!

The one I got was a rolled up diaper and then another around that one and then another and so on and so on until the diapers were basically flat and just layered on top of each other. And then each layer was held together by a ribbon wrapped around the whole thing. No tape or rubber bands or anything.
I love this too... how many diapers did they use??

  • Loading the player...
  • My sister made mine and she used little elastic bands and some straight pins to hold the decorations and ribbon on. Had to be really careful to be site I found all the pins but we did a triple check just to be sure
  • We used rubber bands.

The tape thing happened to me. I ended up reusing the diapers to make my friend a diaper caterpillar. I hear you should rubberband them.imageimage
