FTM swing question

I got a hand me down swing that makes a ton of noise when it swings, not sure if that's normal. It's a boppy brand and needs some serious cleaning. I'm wondering if it would be worth it just to purchase a new one. Are they all noisy? Is the side to side and front to back swinging option important or can I just get a cheap front to back swing. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I would see if the motor needs cleaned or if something might need greased first. I have a basic front to back only swing and it worked for us. It's not noisy either.

    We have a brand new Fisher Price Space Saver swing that clicks when it's swinging. It's not terribly loud, though. In our case, the clicking is normal because it's constantly adjusting speed according to the baby's weight. Not sure about other ones. I think giving the motor a good clean if you can is a good place to start.

    We had a hand me down swing with our son that got louder and louder and then the motor died. We got a replacement (same brand) that was quiet.

    For us the front to back and side to side option was very important. My son would sometimes be crying going one way and you'd switch to the other way and he would stop. But all babies are different, it's unpredictable.

    Mine is used and it clicks a little. I don't think it's a big deal, it's not really loud. And my swing only goes front to back.
