Pee on Couch

How do I get rid of the smell?  DS1 had an accident this week and I cannot get the smell out of the couch cushion.  I want to just throw the couch out at this point.

Re: Pee on Couch

  • Oxi clean. I use the pet stuff for the carpet and I think it is good on furniture too.

Where the hell have you been?
I have been busy with my kids etc .  I am not the mom who has it all under control.  4 kids has kicked my butt.  DS 2 is almost sleeping through the night finally at 13 months.  When that happens, I will be golden.  I think.  Until somebody gets sick or something else comes up.

I have been lurking though!  This week seemed like a nice quiet time to come back ;)

ETA: I also got a notification today that it is my 7 year bumpiversary.

Do I just pour it on top of the cushion?  The couch is microsuede or soemthing like that and the pee soaked in because he was sitting there watching a tv show
  • @gwapes I tried vinegar.  I also steam cleaned it, used some urine smell neutralizer stuff and some spray stuff for pet odor.

@nowababy I might be totally off on this but I think boy pee smells worse than girl pee.  At least in my house it does.  I don't remember my girls' pee having such a strong smell ever.  Maybe it differs by individual I don't know.
  • When our dog had an accident on the carpet, I used a baking soda paste and rubbed in, let it set then vacuumed it off. That was for carpet, not microsuede.

  • Have you tried an enzyme cleaner like bac out? That stuff works miracles.

My BFF got alcohol poisoning when we were in our early twenties and vomited on pretty much everything she owned. It got the puke smell and stains out of the mattress couch and bedding.

I would just pour it on and let it sit for a few hours to absorb the odor, then vacuum it off.

  • DD just did this a couple days ago.  I got out my steam vac and cleaned all three couch cushions.  I highly recommend purchasing one if you don't already have it.

This. Just go to your local pet store and get the one for cat urine and follow the instructions. I keep a big bottle around for pet/child accidents as well as vomit.
