family photos - what kind of props/activities?

we're scheduled to take some family photos at a park in a few weeks. what kind of props would you bring? we will have two toddlers (dd and my nephew), and our 6mo. so far we plan on bringing a blanket, a wagon, bubbles, and a bumbo.

the weather is still mild here, i'm envisioning upper 50's, low 60's.

thanks!

  • I would keep it pretty simple for an outdoor setting. Have you tried looking on Pinterest? There are always great ideas floating around.

  • I think what you have sounds perfect for a nice natural photo shoot.

    pinterest is always so overwhelming!

    what should i type in?

  • I would talk to your photographer.  When we have done pictures they brought most of the things themselves.

I did bring a rocking horse (see avatar) and a bench once.  I also have brought blankets that have special meanings.  My friend brought an umbrella and that was really cute.

  • Ooooh @norbert5 dd did get a rocking horse for Christmas so that would be fun. I wonder if we can pull that off in our trunk space!

  • no props.  keep it natural and just use the beauty of the park.

  • Simple. Very simple. Your smiles.

  • @jaycarmelxo, i like the idea of a sheep skin rug....hmm...i'll need to figure out where i can borrow one bc i don't want one regularly! but that'd look awesome in the grass.

@germanpickle @kimbo1216 i get 2-ish hours with my photog and the park isn't that big..so i'll need just a little bit more :)

  • you could do books (think reading on the blanket in the grass).  I like the wagon idea.  You could do wood letters spelling out your last name (if it's not a long name).  Do you celebrate Easter?  There are lots of realistic looking chicks in stores now.  You could put them in the grass with DD and DS.  They'll grab at them and it'll look so cute.  You could do rain boots and an umbrella on DD.  She can hold the umbrella over DS.  You could bring a basket and some food to have a picnic (or at least look like one).  Board games?  What are some things you do at home?

I like the idea of natural, but if you're looking for more just some suggestions.
