September 2014 Moms

easter menu

So, what are you all cooking (or going to eat, or hoping to eat) on Easter? Trying to get some ideas about what to make. This will be our first easter that I am cooking! I at least want to make corn casserole and pineapple casserole.

Re: easter menu

  • We always have had either ham or leg of lamb, along with lasagna for the people who don't like/want those meats. We have green bean almondine, devilled eggs, and baked sweet potatoes.

  • This year I have totally dropped the ball. I LOVE cooking and usually come up with this bad-ass feast for Easter, but this year, I have given it no thought. SO - it's breakfast for dinner this Easter - starring chicken and waffles! :D

  • We're hosting this year. Normally, I'd go all out, but I'm not up to it being pregnant and all. My plan is ham, cheese potatoes, green beans, corn casserole and rolls. My grandma is bringing pie for dessert.

  • Ham, hashbrown casserole, veggies, deviled eggs, rolls, and some kind of dessert. Not sure what, if anything else, but that is the standard menu each year my my mom's house. Super excited.

  • We are doing ham, mashed sweet potatoes, asparagus, and crescent rolls.  My mom is bringing some kind of dessert so that's one less thing I have to worry about.  I also suspect my dad will volunteer to cook everything once they arrive, which will be fine by me.
  • We will be doing Easter at my brothers and his gf is cooking ham, salads etc. We are all going to bring something and I'm still trying to decide what to bring. DH doesn't like ham!! So I was thinking about bringing another protein but problem is we live an hour and a half away and we usually stay somewhere for the weekend. So I'm having trouble figuring out what to make/bring myself! Maybe I'll just pick up a pizza and call it a day!! Haha

  • @SmarieMcB84‌ What about a chicken? We go several places for the holidays. But at DHs grandmothers she usually has a ham and fried chicken from the grocery store deli, its usually for the little kids BC they don't like ham lol. But my mom does a ham and turkey. But you could just pick up chicken anywhere.
  • Good idea @ambershaw512‌ !!

  • I think:
    Ham
    Asian style short ribs
    Rice
    Scalloped potatoes
    Asian greens
    Fruit
    Deviled eggs
    Roasted asparagus w/ shallot vinaigrette
    Candy

We're a mixed ethnicity household that should cover all palates :)

  • I'm with ya, @criscbish‌. No ham for me. Asain style short ribs sound awesome! I have to work (boo) so I'll be eating whatever is available in the cafeteria.
