I came back normal for gd at 24 weeks but haven't been tested since... I asked about iron levels and they did take blood but seem to be leaning toward gd. Not sure why...

  • sometimes, especially if its while laying down or sitting, it could be where the baby is. If they are laying more on your back they can press on the blood vessels in your back and reduce blood flow meaning that you don't get at much in your brain and can make you dizzy. I have this happen occasionally.

  • I had my blood tested due to dizziness and they found that I actually had low blood sugar. Instead of high. They have me constantly drinking juice and eating fruits now
  • I've always been a fainter. I'm low-risk for GD, iron levels have mostly been fine so it was put down to blood sugar.

It was fixed with diet - a bit more iron and then a drink with real sugar (not that sweetener stuff) whenever I feel wibbly pretty much sorted the dizziness. Try not to stand still for too long either, I find it happen less if I sit or walk around than when standing.
  • For me, the dizziness was about being anemic, and soon as I started taking iron that went away. Good luck!

  • I was getting dizzy spells all the time. It just comes on but goes away quickly. My Dr. didn't worry till recently they got worse. My ears would ring and I'd feel faint too. She has me on 2X dose of iron because I'm anemic but my Dr. says it's all part of the deal sometimes. It never happened with my 1st but if you are worried give your doc a call.
  • There are so many different causes that you should def keep you doc informed so y'all can work out what it is. Mine hit really bad at 25 weeks and I kept passing out. It has nothing to do with GD, low or high blood sugar. Mine is bc the baby is always laying on the IVC vein and I have extremely low blood pressure. When he shifts off the vein, down I go. The only warning I have is a tingly face and hands. It's so bad now that I am not allowed to drive myself unless I have to and I can't even go to the grocery store alone.
So please keep up with your doc on this. Could be as simple as changing your diet.

I had this also and it is apparently quite common in the second trimester (the low blood pressure, not the baby on the vain, I'm not sure about that) and often levels out in the third. My blood pressure was super low for quite awhile and I kept passing out. 47 was the lowest number they recorded at 25 wks. Yesterday at my appointment it was back up to 60 and I have been feeling noticeably better in the last couple of weeks. I was tested for sugar levels, low iron and a couple of other things but everything was normal except the blood pressure.

cristykaye I certainly hope yours improves over the next few weeks too and baby decides to shift around!
