Pumping for an older baby

My daughter is 9mos and over the last month, I have been having a lot of trouble pumping at work. I've dropped from pumping around 12oz to 9-10oz per day. I feed her around 5:30am and again around 6:30pm and at least 3 times through the night. Is this normal? Or a cause for concern about my supply? I've replaced my membranes and everything seems to be working correctly.

Re: Pumping for an older baby

  • this happened to me as well when LO was around that age, and started eating more solids. if you're having trouble pumping enough for all the bottles you were sending previously, you could try replacing one with solids. you may even want to drop a pumping session as you might find that you're not getting enough for one of them to be worth it.

  • @vvvvvfee‌ my lo is tiny so we should probably keep as much bm in her diet as possible. I guess I'm more concerned about the days I am home with her and she is nursing. I'm concerned that she isn't getting enough?

    Thoughts? @casey78

  • @casey78 yeah-she was under the chart for a long time and she finally officially passed the 3% in the last 2 months. And I know that she is much more efficient but with her weight issues I'm always extremely conscious of supply. It's such a mind game!

Hmmm.  Everything I've read and heard says that baby is much more efficient at getting milk from us than the pump is.

On the days you are together, I'd imagine she would just nurse longer or more frequently if she wasn't getting enough.
this exactly- baby is more efficient than the pump. just let her nurse on demand when you are together.
