Magic Sleep Sack?

We have discovered over the last two days that DS cannot sleep without his sleep sack.  Our bedrooms are on the top floor of our house and it gets very warm up there in the summer.  The last two nights it has been warm in his room so we put him to bed without his sleep sack on.  Both nights he was rocked to sleep and then acted like the crib was hot lava when we tried to put him in.  Once we finally got him to sleep, he would wake up screaming within 30 minutes of getting him down.  Both nights we finally gave in and put the sleep sack on him and he immediately went to sleep and slept the rest of the night.

All of our sleep sacks are fleece so I guess I will be going shopping this week to get some lighter cotton ones!  Has this happened to anyone else?  I really had no idea he would be so dependent on it!

Re: Magic Sleep Sack?

  • My girls are like this with their swaddles.  I can't get them out of them!  Luckily they are still not rolling over yet, so its not an issue right now but they are close.  I don't know what I'm going to do when we have to stop the swaddle.  I can't take another disruption in our already poor sleep situation!

  • @ballygirl I was the same way with the swaddle.  We just went cold turkey one night and put him in a sack instead of the swaddle and never had any issues.  He is a good sleeper in general though.

@jgslr I am going to start looking for lighter ones.  I agree with you about the cotton even being too heavy.  He was not sweaty this morning but was toasty when he woke up.  This was with a short sleeve shirt and shorts PJ set and the fleece sack.  It is not even that warm here yet so I imagine in the summer if he insists on the sleep sack I will just put him in the lightest one I can find and leave him in just a diaper.
