Hey ladies, I'm a FTM and have no clue about nursing bras and tanks. Obviously I need to get my booty shopping and trying on bras but just wanted some input. What brands of nursing bras do/did you love???
A lot of bra/tank recommendations are just personal preferences.
That being said, I tried the sleep nursing bras from Target that people recommended and hated the racer-back style. Not comfortable on my neck at all.
I love the regular Gilligan O'Malley nursing tanks from Target. I had a couple of them for right after delivery. Didn't bother with a bra since bra size changes so much. Wore tanks, bought a cheap Target nursing bra, and then eventually bought a really nice nursing bra after being fitted at a fancy bra store (an Anita. It's an awesome bra.).
Wait till you have the baby and your milk comes in. You have no clue what size you will be till then. Plus what is comfortable now may not be then.
This. Towards the end, you could pick up a generically sized (as in, S, M, L) nursing top to put you on for the first few days until your milk comes in and you expand but you should be able to get by until then with a loose t-shirt that you lift up as you're not going to leave the house much in the first couple of days, if at all.
Milk comes in usually somewhere between about 3 and 7 days(ish) after delivery so there's not a lot of point getting anything that needs to be fitted, like bras, until then.
I can't help you on brand, I have to special order from overseas due to being a strange size.
I recently got some amazing ones from Motherhood Maternity. They look like a sports bra, but they have a hook closure in the back. They are so comfortable to wear now since all my other bras are too small. I made sure I had room to grow.
Another vote for Anita, but wait until your milk comes in and then get professionally sized. A bit of a hassle with baby in tow, but totally worth it. Nordstom sells them and you can find them on amazon. I never had luck with target or motherhood.

I'm large busted so the general S, M, L size bras were not comfortable for me. I really love the support and comfort of the Anita Bras. I bought mine on Amazon (I bought several styles in different sizes) about a month after I had the baby (prior to that I just wore a basic nursing bra from Target- which is what I use to sleep in) that way I could easily return things in the mail for free and just try it on at home. I think the one I went with was the t-shirt bra- I like it because even after I was done nursing I could still wear it as it wasn't an obvious nursing bra (plus for me, even though I loose my baby weight, my boobs never shrink in size when I'm done nursing- in fact, after each child my boobs have gotten a bit bigger).
