Invite wording NBR

I'm on a committee for my church that does activities for young girls a few times a month, mostly to teach them skills but at the same time have fun and encourage good activities.

Anyways, we're putting on a Mother's Day activity and I'm not sure how to word the invite. We've got a girl whose mom passed away and another whose mom is in jail. Should we phase it as bring your favorite lady to be sensitive to those girls or am I overthinking it and just say mother/daughter activity?

Re: Invite wording NBR

  • "Favorite lady" is nice.  I think it's always nicer to let people define their own relationships.  In their position, I would prefer to see myself as someone with an aunt/godmother/whatever than someone without a mother.

  • That's what I was thinking too. Thanks!
  • That is really sweet of you to consider their feelings. I would definitely go that route with the invites.
