Screaming during feeding

My lo is 6 weeks. Breastfeeding has been going very well- until about a week and a half ago when she started unlatching/relatching/screaming during about half of her feedings. Today, she has screamed bloody murder every single time I feed her. Tonight, this lasted an entire hour, before she finally fell asleep. She'll suck for 30 seconds, scream, relatch... I've tried burping more, different positions...we both ended up in tears. Any ideas as to what is going on? I can't take much more of this.

    You might have a fast letdown, either let her nurse until let down and unlatch her and spray into a towel then relatch her or you can hand express/pump until letdown then latch her after. Best of luck

    When she pops off, there is never any spraying, so I'm not sure that's it? I do drip when she unlatches, but that's it. Could that still be the problem?

    Probably a forceful let down meaning your milk is coming out too fast and baby is sort of choking on it. Imagine someone shooting a squirt gun at the back of your mouth. You can squeeze some milk out into a towel until it isn't coming out so fast before you feed LO.

    You may want to have lo checked for reflux if her behavior doesn't improve.

    This was my thought. She spits up a lot, so I think this might be part of it. Her pedi is sort of reluctant to give meds unless she isn't gaining, but I might call again if this lasts too much longer.

    Make sure you push the issue I he seems to be in pain.

    Use the baby mittens if she's really scratching at you during a feeding... My chest looked like a tiger attacked it until I clued in and put on the mitts made that part much better then I make sure to keep his nails trimmed really short now :)
