PMDD

Do any of you deal with this? I've only had bad PMS maybe a dozen times, typically I don't have a lot of symptoms. I'm on BCP and started having periods pretty much right away PP. The first was heavy as all hell and then the were normal until last month when I had no PMS and an almost nonexistent period, it was very light and basically just spotting.

I just finished the second to last week of this month's BCP (so the last week of "sugar pills" started yesterday) and I feel horrible. All last week I was getting horribly bloated, nauseous all the time and even vomiting from the smell of formula, exhausted, light cramps, having absolutely horrible mood swings, a migraine like I've never had before, and crying for no reason. I feel totally crazy.

Has anyone else experienced this or does this sounds like PMDD? Or something else? I thought BCP were supposed to help with this and it always has for me before. I'm going to talk to my doctor about it but man, I'm just miserable.

By any chance have you taken a pregnancy test?
eta: I am sorry also. I have had BCP pills have a weird effect on me before but in its the same ones you've been taking, its strange that you would have those symptoms all of the sudden... that's what made me think pg.

  • I have! It definitely sucks. Have you tried any medicine? Midol Complete helps with a lot of the symptoms for me. Not the regular or extra strength, there's one that says "complete" on the box.

  • @MegStark is what I described what you feel as well?

@BamGal25 no, but I really should. My fiance suggested that and of course it just made me even more mad and emotional... Praying as hard as I can that that's not the case!

@jdoud77 thank you so much. It's like I keep going up and down and it's driving me nuts, something gets better and then as soon as that happens something else goes wrong. I hope I can just figure out what's going on and deal with it.
  • I felt like this years ago before I had kids while taking Yaz. I stayed up all night once crying about pretty much every sad thing that had ever happened in my life. I truly felt like I was losing my mind. I stopped them and within a few weeks it was like a fog lifted from my mind. It's scary now to think back to how bad I felt. Definitely tell your doctor what's going on.

  • It is how I felt. Doctor said there was other prescription meds I could try, but I never did. Mine hasn't come back since LO was born. So sorry you're feeling this way. Hopefully you'll figure out something that will help you.

  • I may have PMDD- therapist said we should watch for 6 months before really calling it that.  I get insomnia, very depressed and anxious, difficulty eating and no motivation to do anything.

    This. Yaz was the worst!
I tried several bc pills they each had side effects. I did better with the nuvaring. I hope you get this figured out and you feel better soon.
