I'm new here so I thought I'd give y'all a little back story. I'm 28, DH is 37. He has two teenage boys from a previous marriage but we have been TTC together for 2.5 years (16 months of medicated cycles). I started out on 50mg of clomid and worked all the way up to 150mg with some success. I have had several cycles where I developed nicely and received a trigger shot. One resulted in a chemical pregnancy, the others just BFN. My last cycle with clomid 150mg was a bust. No maturing follicles on CD14. Instead of waiting a month he immediately restarted my cycle and switched me to femara 5mg. I went in 12 days later and was thrilled to see three large follicles! I took the trigger shot that day and felt really good about things. 5 days later, AF came. The dr tested my progesterone and said it looks like I had a late ovulation with the CLOMID!? All so strange. He started me over on femara and the cycle was a bust. Follicles that never grew past 11mm. Our last resort before switching to injectables and IUI was one last round of clomid but 200mg this time. CD 10 I had 5 follicles (15mm, 16mm, 18mm, 22mm, 24mm)! I triggered Wednesday afternoon and my dr said I should've ovulated Friday morning early. Of course, I'm nervous and skeptical...so I took an at home OPK. I got very negative tests until Saturday morning when I THINK I had a surge. It's just so hard to tell with those tests and sometimes I think I see what I want to see. I want to believe that we have got a shot this month...but I'm just so anxious. Is it possible to have mature follies, trigger and then not ovulate? Any thoughts or good vibes are sooo appreciated!!! I'm so glad boards like this exist.

Just curious did you take clomid for 16 months?
I've done 16 cycles all together. First with clomid, then femara, now back to clomid. I called and asked about the negative OPKs after the trigger and my dr said the same thing you did....that the trigger should've automatically given a positive. I guess that's why I worried. Hopefully they know. That's why we pay them the big bucks, right?

I haven't started on Clomid yet because we aren't done doing all our tests. My Doctor refuses to do more then 6 cycles of it. They feel it's a waste (and not good medically) to start before you know what's wrong. You may need to find a new doctor.

Yo can actually do more clomid cycles as long as you are responding and being monitored. My RE said that most people get a benefit from it if they are going to within 6 cycles but it doesn't hurt anything to do more. Since our issue is MFI and I've responded well to clomid, she would prefer to keep using it as opposed to trying Femara. I have noticed that my body seems to be building up a resistance to it though and my dose had to be increased this cycle. Luckily, this is my last cycle before IVF!

I'm trying to figure out why they would say only 2. I'd think all 5 have a chance but I'm no Dr. I thought I read somewhere anything above 12mm has a chance, but I could have dreamed that. Does anyone know?
I've been googling all day about E2 levels and follicle count. My RE will let me trigger with 5-6 but I have egg quality issues because of my age.
