I have been breastfeeding and supplementing with formula for my baby girl. Yesterday, she had no problem having poopy diapers. Now, today she has not had a poopy diaper yet. She's been grunting, trying to go...also she's been tooting--so I know she needs to go. I'm worried. I need advice and help on what I should do for her to get her to have a bowl movement. It's been hard on her also she's going thru fussiness and gas to add to it. ( Please help?
Bicycle her legs and rub her tummy. If you have a bouncy chair or something with vibrations, try putting them in that. Dd didn't go for two days and we did all of the above and the vibrating chair did the trick. Probably too well as we now call it the poop chair. Lol.
LO went almost two days with no bowel activity, and it was pretty clear he was miserable. The dr's first suggestion was to stimulate the rectal area with a thermometer, and if that didn't work, to switch to a gentler formula. The thermometer worked. Within twenty minutes, he loosened up and went!
Thank you MapleLeafMomma & Abcollins57 for the suggestions!! I put my lil girl in her vibrating bouncy and laid her down in her pack n play which had vibrate mode on it and after a few hours, she went in her diaper. I was so relieved. I believe it's the formula I'm supplementing for her along with breastfeeding that's affecting her bowls. Tomorrow morning she has her well child visit with our pediatrician and I will ask him for suggestions too.
DD has gone through this twice since we took her home. At the most, she's been 5 days between poops. I called her dr a couple times and they didn't seem too worried. They said that sometimes they go through growth spurts where their body just uses everything that's put into it and there's no waste. As long as she was farting, DH and I took that to mean that things were moving down there.
If you're super worried about it, try a warm bath. We even tried taking her temperature anally. That's what our pedi recommended once. If you put some Vaseline on the end and leave it in there for 30 seconds or so, that might activate the muscles if there's anything for her to get rid of. Just be ready, I've heard it can be explosive
Re: Constipation?
