3rd Trimester

measuring 3 weeks bigger than due date!

I'm almost 31 weeks and at my checkup today the doctor said I was measuring around 33 weeks. She said the babies feels average size, so it could be his position or too much fluid. Going for another check up in a week then an US. Is this something to be concerned about? Im terrified of having a huge baby and the too much fluid thing sounds a little scary too from what I was reading!

Re: measuring 3 weeks bigger than due date!

  • First, stay off Google. Lots of people have "too much" fluid. :)
Secondly, I wouldn't be concerned unless your doctor is concerned. I was 3-4 weeks ahead with DD, for several checkups in a row.

    Yea...she was 7lb13oz at 39 weeks. lol

  • I was the same way with my son! He was a perfect 7lbs 1oz! Dont worry until there is something to worry about!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • I'm measuring 6 weeks ahead right now so 41 weeks (I was 35+3 at that measurement) . Not a huge deal, follow-up ultrasound confirmed baby is a-ok. Belly measurement doesn't necessarily mean anything.
  • I have continually measured 6-7 weeks ahead throughout the majority of my pregnancy!! Everything was normal (his measurements & the amniotic fluid) at my ultrasound, i was told I have a larger uterus. What that exactly means, I have no clue, lol but try not to worry too much! :)
  • In addition to the above, a big baby doesn't always measure ahead. I measured perfectly all along with DS and he ended up surprisingly gigantic (10+ lbs, no GD). Don't be worried if your doctor isn't.

  • so you're actually measuring 2 weeks ahead, whichis totally normal. They say 2 weeks ahead and 2 weeks behind are average measurements since its not super accurate. I measured a full 3 weeks ahead with my first daughter and she was only born 2 days before her due date. It really doesn't mean anything... it's just another measurement for our curiosity. The fun thing is that you get more ultrasounds!

  • I have slightly too much fluid and also measure a few weeks ahead. We had the ultrasound and baby measures wonderfully. They may try to adjust your diet as my doc says extra fluid and carbs/sugar show a correlation. My doc isn't worried. They just keep an eye on my growth.
  • you ladies are wonderful! Loved hearing your replies! As a first time mommy I can tend to get a little worried over the small stuff sometimes and I agree, google is something to stay away from :)! your comments were encouraging! Thanks a lot!
