Sesame Place

edited April 2014 in July 2012 Moms
I've got it in my head that the 3 of us should go to Sesame Place (Langhorne, PA) over Memorial Day weekend.  A few Qs:

*Is it worth going?  LO is OBSESSED with Sesame Street.  Or is it too crowded, too cheesy, too whatever?
*Will it be worth going if the weather is too lousy for water fun?  It seems very water-focused (which LO loves).
*Is it worth doing 1 night?  2 nights?  Anyone stay at a nearby hotel worth recommending?  I'm looking at packages at the nearby Courtyard Marriott?

Any other thoughts welcome.  Help me prepare a solid case to sell DH if this is worth doing \:D/

Re: Sesame Place

  • EXACTLY.  LO turns 2 in July, let's not sit around until we have to pay for him...DH!  Talking my husabnd into any vacation/trip is always the WORST.

  • That seems like a lot of work, the packages are so easy...perhaps I will keep that from DH  :-\"

  • We are going this summer with some friends. I have heard good things about it. My dad's gf told me that her daughter lives in that area and takes the kids all the time. I imagine that means it's fun and not too overwhelming for little ones :)

It sounds like a fun place and Ava is SO into Elmo, I bet she would love it! If only we lived closer to it....
  • I am also curious about Sesame place as I have heard good and bad reviews of it. The good news is that there is suppose to be a lot for small kids to do. A woman at my work told me it was dirty which is the only reason I am hesitant to go....I am unsure what here standards are thought (maybe super high who knows?) I would love to know your experience if you do end up going.
  • I think it's really nice, but I live in PA, so it's close. It's mostly a water park but has regular rides too. It's not super big so it's doable in one day if you had to. The parades are amazing! I went years ago and the characters walked around and signed autographs and gave hugs :) don't know if it's still the same. The gift shops are cool too! Have fun!
  • We are booked!  Thanks for the input ladies, will do a full review upon our return.  DH did spy my previous bitching in this thread over my shoulder (danger of sharing a desk) and said we have to cancel, though :))

I actually live 15 minutes away!

I would say that if you are going to go, I would go in the Spring or in the Fall. I will ask my boss if she has ever gone Memorial Day and let you know what she thinks. They have a wading pool and areas for smaller kids that LO could splash around in. You never know with the weather, so it's a gamble either way - it was 83 degrees here yesterday.

They also have shows that you should reserve space for if you are going to go. They have Choo Choo Soul coming and Super Whyy in May. I'm thinking of taking Will to Choo Choo Soul as a trial run...so I can let you know how we make out. I've never been there with him, but went when I was younger. A lot has changed since then, but my boss has season passes for her and her girls and we were just talking about it.

I think that you could do one day and feel like you got it all in...especially when LO is a little on the young side. They get in free under 2, as well.
