Weight loss.

I bet you opened this thinking I would discuss my weight loss ;) Lol.

Today I am starting my life change, I want to eat healthy and make better choices.  We all know the feeling of not having enough time to even think right now.  So i wanted to know if you ladies have any recommendations for an APP on an iPhone which can easily track weight loss, and calories?  I was looking on my phone, but there is so many.

Also, I see the weight watchers thread all the time on here.  I checked the website out this morning.  Do you like their program?

Re: Weight loss.

  • Exactly what @armalan12 said. I use MFP. It's free and easy to use. Once you've been using it for awhile, it starts to save your favorite foods (the ones you track often) which makes it easier and faster. The app also has a barcode scanner now, which makes it even easier.

  • MFP! I lost 70lb before getting pregnant using that app!
Also, you can add friends who can cheer you on. I find that really helpful too!

  • I do weight watchers and go to the meetings. Lots of women do ww online, but, for me, if you are going to do it online you might as well go with my fitness pal because its free. WW is basically modified calorie counting, but the big plus is the extra support I get from meetings
  • Thanks ladies ! MFP is downloaded and I am ready to use it!!

@ziggy903 I will have to check on adding friends, it would be nice to have someone to cheer on and to have someone cheer me on!

@armalan12 I will have to check the thread out!
  • I used to use Spark People. I'm not sure if there is an app or not. But you can track food, exercise, goals, there are forums, etc. https://www.sparkpeople.com

Update, yes Spark People does have an app now. And one for recipes too. And don't know if they're any good, but I downloaded them anyway. Oddly, my weight and goals are the same as they were 2 years ago when I used it last.

Is there a way to change your username on MFP?

I tried and couldn't figure it out. I went to settings, profile, and it will let me edit everything but username. Let me know if you figure it out!
You cannot do it in the app. You have to go to their website, log in and then go to your account and change username.
  • I used MFP before and was thinking of doing it again. I'll be adding you ladies :) my username is dep722
  • I have the same username as this. I'd appreciate the support!

I'm using MFP (as recommended by you lovely ladies)....

Question though....are any of you breastfeeding? Are you taking those calories burned into account or adjusting your daily allotted calories at all?

ETA: my username is seeka8run if anyone wants to be my buddy :)
  • @karich I would take those into account for sure! You can manually set your calorie intake.
  • @karich I would take those into account for sure! You can manually set your calorie intake.

So would you increase your calorie intake by ~500? Or log it as calories burned?
Or am I over thinking this? :)
  • I think I would increase my calorie intake.

I just added 500 to my allotted calories. I don't want to list it as an exercise, because then it screws up tracking my exercise goal for the week, and when I choose it as a food, it just takes calories away from me.
