Any of this stuff happen to you guys?
My wife has an Rx that is pretty pricey. I have a mail order program through my insurance that makes it a little cheaper, but we haven't been using it because we could get coupons through the manufactory that saved us $600 per year. They don't have the coupons anymore so we went the mail order route. my wife's nurse sent the order in, but it was for the wrong dose and for the generic equivalent. She could have used the wrong dose eventually, but the generic makes her sick. The mail order place won't take it back because it wasn't their fault. It's really irritating. If the doctor can't do anything we'll be on the hook for 60 bucks (and that's at 10% since we've hit our deductible). Won't put us under, it's just annoying
What makes it worse is this happened a week after her other doctor ran a genetic blood test that we weren't aware of for our twins. We would have declined if we knew (we did decline the results). Or accepted if the doctor said it was medically necessary. Insurance said it's not medically necessary and they're trying to hit us up for $350 for that one. We have to try to appeal it or get the doctor to somehow fix it.
I'm not optimistic in either case and it's just annoying that we have to pay for stuff we have no use for. I really feel we have no control over the bills they are sending our way.
Any similar stories and what were the results?
Re: Medical Bills - Mess ups
We also declined the genetic blood test and the testing while she was pregnant to see if anything was wrong. Her aunt did the testing for her first two and it caused more worry than what actually happened.
I've had a few cases where they didn't get our insurance or something funny happened. Usually they tell me to ignore the bill and I'll get a new one. I just wish they said sorry or something rather than it wasn't our fault so we're not going to help you out. Whatever happened to just doing the right thing? It's through CVS Caremark by the way. I looked up their reviews. 88% 1 star. 12% 2 stars for over 200 reviews. I read some of them and my story is mild compared to some people's. I'm going to wait to see how much I end up saving with them to see if I'll continue. I really don't want to give them business, but money talks.
We declined it with out first one too. We figure we can't do anything about it, we're not aborting over an unreliable test, and it is an unreliable test so it would just be worry over potentially nothing.
Let this be proof that you're making the right decision then.
They called me about the $440 because I guess it was high enough that they needed my approval before sending it. I told them it was doubled up. Apparently the nurse sent it 2 pills a day twice a day. It's supposed to be once per day. Not sure why it keeps getting messed up. My wife is going to ask her nurse next month. I just cancelled the whole thing right there and told them how unhappy I was. Even if it's not their fault, I'm still mad they wouldn't return the first mess up.
Monthly at Target for life after this.
