Random questions and recommend your pjs

Just some random things I've been trying to Google, but thought I'd throw out here as well...
- Anyone's LO get heat rash? What did it look like?
- Anyone's LO ever get (or currently has) an ingrown toenail? As my luck would have it, DS has one, and I'm not sure what to do about it, as trying to even look at it is like wrestling an octopus

Also, I'm really particular on PJs for DS - he has super sensitive skin, so I'm constantly trying to find "soft" cotton pjs and am finding this harder and harder as he gets into the bigger sizes. Anyone have any recommendations? Everything I find at BRU, Target, and Kohls are scratchy.

Re: Random questions and recommend your pjs

  • I've got nothing on the first questions, but as far as pj's, I love Disney ones. Ds has two sets and they are great. I think they are super soft, they wash great and they fit him well. The only thing about them is that they are a narrower pant leg so I'm not sure how a baby with super chunky thighs would do with them.

  • Kickee Pants makes the softest organic baby clothes. This stuff is like butter.. wish they made grown up clothing.

I also have some Hartley pjs that are super soft.

I only have one Disney sleeper and would have to agree that it is surprisingly soft and well made.

  • My LO has had a heat rash after leaving my grandparents' house for a visit. They don't run the air conditioner at all (we live in south Louisiana). He had tiny red bumps in random places. When we got home I took all of his clothes off and let him cool off then gave him a bath in cooler water than usual. It was gone in the next day or 2. For pjs, I've found that Pima cotton is excellent. It's super soft, airy, and not too heavy. I buy the Noa Lily brand. They aren't cheap by any means, but they work so well on DS, and Zulily periodically has them for more than half off retail price.

  • DS got a heat rash and it went away pretty quickly once he cooled off. It just looked like a big red spot on his neck or arm. It was slightly splotchy but it went away fairly quick.

We usually buy pjs at carters. They seem to have all types of materials. Also we have found a few at Walmart. Carters has some 2 piece ones that are cotton and DS seems to really like those.
  • We got old navy cotton Jammies and they are pretty nice (they are two years old though).

  • @snowboarderbritt, I just bought a couple of them this weekend b/c Cam is hulking out of his 9 month ones, but I am worried about squeezing his fatness into them. It's like they somehow think that a. actual 12 month old babies are the only ones wearing them and b. all babies magically turn into skinny, walking toddlers at 12 months.

  • The older sized pjs that are flame retardant are also close fitting because of the fire danger aspect. It is another precaution. If you read the label attached it says something about them needing to fit very close to the body to be used properly.

But why is there more fire danger for a 12 month old than a newborn? I don't get it. Is it like they think they will be playing near open flames or something?

Sorry to threadjack, but can we talk about WHY carter's sleepers switch at 12 months to this flame-retardant, awful feeling fabric and feet with grippers on the bottom? What the hell? First of all, why is the fabric prior to 12 months NOT flame retardant, if it's so important, and second of all, my 12 month old does not need grippy feet on his pajamas.

Thank you @sleepy33! Seriously! I felt like I was losing my mind this weekend going into every store I could think of trying to find pjs!

  • Hey, I just looked on the Target website, and it appears the Just One You by Carter's sleepers come in 12 month and aren't the yucky flame retardant fabric (at least according to what it says in the description)

Yea they had a couple of ones like these at our carters also. I was only able to find 2 that weren't butt ugly. I need to buy more. Thanks!

They need to be flame retardant because obviously we start to let our kids play with matches at 12 months. :)

  • Gap pajamas are my favorite.  We have mostly 9 mon Carter's though and will need to shop for 12 month pj's soon.  Like other PP, I hate the Carter's pjs 12 mon+!

  • H&M has really soft onesies and some sleepwear. My DD is in 12/18 months now and I usually get her PJ's there...

  • Well everyone seemed to of answered all the other questions so I'll answer the one about the ingrown toenail... I thought that my LO had one a couple weeks after being born so if it looks like there is an infection or puss call his pedi because he will need a antibiotic. If it just looks like the skin is covering the nail I was told that the nail will just amputate the skin NBD...
  • Thanks @acethebase - I keep putting Neosporin on it and am hoping that will ward off any infection. My DH's toes are all messed up, so I'm thinking LO got his ugly feet :(
