I have very sensitive skin and was using coconut oil on my face because nothing else was working. I have eczema patches on my face and the coconut oil cleared them up in a weekend. After about 6 weeks, it stopped working for me though.
I do know that my sister recommended I stop using bio-oil based on the quality of individual ingredients. She said the best thing I can be using is avocado oil (even over the coconut oil!) but I've been too lazy to pick some up. She's pursuing a certification in aromatherapy and alternative medicines if that matters.
I used coconut oil as a moisturizer pre-pregnancy and loved it, so I will definitely continue using it while pregnant. I don't use it as my only face cream though because I found it clogged my pore a bit, so I use it once or twice a week on my face and then most of the time on my body.
I don't hold out any hope of it preventing stretch marks though, as I've read that those are mostly just hereditary and I already have stretch marks from when I was a teen and I know my mom got them during pregnancy. No harm in using the coconut oil anyway though, it's a fantastic moisturizer.
I agree with the cocoa butter not being an issue, yet I will skip it till after the baby comes, also I returned the mothers special blend after reading about possible allergies, just to be on the safe side. I started using coconut oil and I love it, specially around the breast area because when the milk comes I want the least possible number of ingredients around there, in case of absorption and getting into the milk. Thanks everyone
Love my coconut oil. Never had an itchy belly, so either it worked, or I just didn't! (Only ended up with 4 small stretch marks. I'm very prone to them, so I was happy) now I use it on LO. He's got dry skin on his ankles.
I'm using a coconut oil soap and cocoa butter moisturizer after I shower.. but I also battled with dry skin before pregnancy that got worse after my BFP. I'm still getting stretch marks, but I am tons less itchy.
Re: Organic cocoa butter or coconut oil ?
