Who takes monthly...

or weekly pics? What are you planning on doing with them at the end of the first year? Anything special at their party?

I was just sitting here thinking that I'd like to incorporate them in some way, by that time I'll have 12 months and 51 weeks. But I'm at a loss...

Any ideas?

  • I take monthly pictures and will get them printed and put them around at her party.

I'll also get a book made every year.  My sister did that for my niece and nephew and they LOVE looking at them.

  • That's a cute idea! I wish I had made the pictures all the same, but they're just whatever we did the day of that was interesting. I'm thinking about incorporating the month ones in my garland I usually put over the non-working fireplace in my front room. I'm going to have one of those First Year posters on Etsy made to hang over the fireplace for his party and the whole holiday season. So maybe that would be fun.

    Umm...it doesn't work. I mean COME on. ;)
  • My poor second child.  We did monthly pics with DS, but I keep forgetting with DD.  Oops.
Put some small clothes on her and fake it. LOL

I feel bad because we did miss the 1st month picture. I was such a mess that first month I couldn't even get my act together to take a picture of the kid with the stuffed animal we use in all the monthly photos. I also wish I had gotten those little monthly stickers from etsy. Oh well...
We could always figure out how to photoshop the damn stickers on the early ones! I mean people...technology was invented for a reason.

I've been doing monthly pics. I plan to hang them up for his first birthday party. With DS1, I mounted them on cardstock, then hung them like garland. Here's a picture of what I did.

ETA: I also made a photo album through Snapfish for the grandparents of his first year, with pages for each month as well as special things, like his first vacation.

ETA2: I just realized how disheveled my couch looks. I'd like to say it doesn't always look like this...but that would be a lie. :/

Haha true.  I took it to mean that you have a working and a non-working fireplace in your front room, ala Downton Abbey.  But either way, I hate because I'm jealous.  I have to settle for one of those ghetto plug-in heaters that has fake flames.  Sadz.
Ok I do have one that works. LOL But the front room has an old coal fireplace that is boarded up. The kitchen/den, which is all one room, has a wood burning fireplace. Our rental house was built in the 20s, it's old and tiny, but somehow has two fireplaces. I'm just so happy to have two mantels to decorate though, after having zero for 8 years.

This is similar to what I was thinking! Except on greenery! So cute!

...AND WE'RE JEWISH.  Nothing about that makes any sense.
Try growing up Jewish in the deep South. I have friends who had Christmas trees and hunted Easter eggs.
  • So for all you ladies who wanted those stickers but didn't get them, what if you edited your photos in one of those photo apps ladies were using for their HDBD photos?  Then they could all be uniform that way, instead of some that are photoshopped and some that are sticker stuck on babies.  And it wouldn't matter that the photos weren't all staged the same way.  Is this making any sense?  I remember @Txmamatobe and @MBMO2 used apps that always turned out looking good.

Chiming in! Yep guise use the app called Rhonna Designs! It's a few bucks but totally worth it! Then you can print those out easily and they will all match! :)

  • I use Beautiful Life or Life is Beautiful to write the week or month on the pictures. It's more my style than the stickers and easier to set up! So lazy for the win!
  • P.S. I have the app called Groove Book on my phone and it uploads 100 pics each month for $2.99, I usually end up ordering an extra book a month, but it sends you the books in the mail and it's easier than uploading them to Walgreens or anything else online! Just an FYI for all the pics on your phone and the pics look good with the Rhonna design on it too! :)

  • I do weekly pictures. For DS1's 1st bday party, I put all of the pictures on a big poster board and displayed it at his party. My goal was to put them into a photo album after the party but they are sitting in a pile in his closet.

  • Okay, in all seriousness, a very important question:

@MissyC979 HOW DO YOU SIT ON YOUR COUCH???

    I LIKE PILLOWS!!!!

Haha, I do straighten them out when I sit down. DS1 is notorious for building forts and destroying my couch though. :)

  • I do weekly, monthly, and some ransoms. I think I'm going to make a groove book just with those at the end :-) maybe something else, I don't know yet.

  • @mrssturm45 When you go to the Photos icon (looks like a flower) they are sorted by date taken there.  It should be under Collections.  Also, when you upload them to your computer, the date taken should appear in Properties (or when you hover over the pic with your mouse you can see the date taken there, too).

Mine's more of the same, but I'll share anyway. We didn't do official month photos (because I'm lazy and forgetful), so I just picked a favorite from each month. They are backed on scrapbook paper with embellishments and clothes pinned to a rope.

Who do you plan to ransom the baby from?
  • I have blocks for my monthly photos. They turn for weeks, months, year, and grade.

I've been doing themes for each month: baby new year with an old school cloth diaper for January, valentine, a leprechaun, and now a bunny. I'm drawing a blank for may.

Maybe a flower? I don't know, May and June don't really have a theme.

  • Memorial Day for May? General summer/swimsuit for June.
