C-section mommas

How are you feeling and how long has it been since surgery? How is baby doing?

It's been 10 days for me and I feel pretty darn good! Although its my left side of my incision that still burns. I would say I was only really down and not doing anything but resting for 6 days. I still get worn down easy though. Baby is doing great!!!

Re: C-section mommas

  • I feel like I am doing SO MUCH BETTER than I was after my first section. I think I was in more pain at the hospital this time, but since we've been home, I've been great. Only took pain meds for 6 days total, and we've been out and about with our 2 year old as we normally would; there really hasn't been much resting for me at home other than the fact that I'm not lifting anything/one. Maybe there's something to those placenta pills after all...

  • I'm 18 days out. Most of the time I feel great. Haven't had to take anything stronger than Tylenol and Motrin for 10 days now. I do have days where I'm a lot more sore, but on those days I just hang out on the couch more. I have been able to do a lot more, including going to a big arcade for my niece's birthday yesterday. OB said my incision looks beautiful and is healing well.

Baby is good as well. Had a great 2 week well check, gained all her birth weight back, and then some. She does have to have an ultrasound on her hips, because she was breech, but the pedi said it's just a precaution, because she looks great and pedi has no big concerns.

  • I feel really good at 6 days PP. My incision burns more on my right side when I'm trying to get up from certain positions, especially if I have baby in tow. It's healing well though. I was only on heavy duty pain killers for a little while during my hospital stay. I don't like them because they tend to make me constipated. I've been surviving just fine on higher dosages of ibruprofen.

Baby is doing well! He's nursing like a champ and seems to be putting on weight nicely.

The c-section was pretty sucky during (except for the whole meeting my baby part) but I have to say the recovery has been a lot easier than I thought it would be.

  • I'm 17 days pp and doing really good! I only took pain meds for 4 days. I walked target 4 days pp, went to a farm and walked around seeing animals with my 2 year old at 5 days pp. this is my 2nd csection and I'm finding my recovery a lot easier. Only thing I don't do is lift my 2 year old. Baby is doing great
  • I'm 16 days pp. I WAS feeling pretty good, but then a few days ago started dealing with delayed postpartum hemorrhaging. Besides being scary and requiring medication that made me feel like crap, I think it just set me back a lot as far as recovering mentally and emotionally (and physically of course).

I had a fairly difficult pregnancy and was at a very high risk for a catastrophic bleed for months. I thought once the c-section was over and I appeared to be healing well (almost no bleeding after the first 24 hours) we were in the clear and didn't have to worry about that anymore. To still be dealing with this now and to have the worry of being readmitted to the hospital hanging over my head is making it tough to maintain a positive state of mind. Plus, I'm basically back on modified bed rest which just seems so fucked up since I'm not even pregnant anymore. Ughhhhhh.

I have had very few health issues in my life, am healthy and active. I don't know why I keep getting dealt a shitty hand with this. I just want to feel normal again.

Sorry for the whine! It's just been a rough couple days! Also, not everything is crappy - I have this sweet little cutie in my life now:

  • 13 days PP here, and feeling pretty good.  I still get a little sore if I do too much walking (yesterday we did a slow stroll for almost two miles), or if I lay on my side for too long, but I haven't had to take any Motrin in a few days, and I'm down to only needing a panty liner during the day and small pad at night.    Incision looks great.

Is anyone wearing a Belly Bandit?  I ordered one and it should be here in a few days...

  • I'm currently 11 days post section. I feel really good most of the time. I still have some pain if I do too much throughout the day and have taken Motrin the last couple of days. The biggest pain in my ass is not being able to lift my toddler. But honestly, I feel pretty good.

For those of you who have done this before, is the lifting restriction really 6 weeks?!?!

  • 6 days pp and I still can't wear shoes due to these swollen elephant feet! My abdomen is pretty tender but other than that, I feel good. I really haven't done much, though. We might try going to the store today.

Baby is doing well, she also has to have an ultrasound since she was frank breech. Her little legs still prefer to stick straight out. So cute.  She has another weight check tomorrow but had already started gaining at her 4 day check up.

I have an abdominal binder from the hospital but my belly is too sore to even think of using it yet.

  • My hospital gave me one of those belly binding things. Its hard to put on by myself.. so I only use it when I remember to have my husband help me. I do like using it though. Keeps things tight... when they are flabby and swollen.

I am 4 days PP and am doing well. I am still taking some high pain meds along with Motrin. Had my first bowel movement (SCARY!). And just taking it easy. Get my staples out on Thursday so interested to see how I feel when they are out.

    Hang in there girls!

I'm 10 days PP and just cleaned my entire house today. I'm feeling wonderful! I haven't taken pills since 7 days PP and even at 4 days PP I was only taking them twice a day. This recovery has been so easy! I haven't bled since 7 days PP either. I feel like I didn't even have surgery. With my last one I had to wear the belly band for 3 weeks when walking otherwise it felt like my incision would bust out but this time I only needed it for a week.

There's absolutely no way I'll last 6 weeks. I'll be 2 weeks tomorrow and I already cheat on occasion with DD (30 lbs).

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this, it sounds like a nightmare. I was on bed rest due to bleeding risks too and I just wanted to send you an internet hug (((((hug)))). Fx that you heal up soon!

  • After 4.5 weeks PP I'm feeling good. I did take every last pain med but that also didn't stop me from lifting ds early on. I just couldn't wait on that since I was away from him on hospital bed rest for a month. I can lift him now without any strain though, and I really haven't had any pain or bleeding in a few weeks.

  • I'm 11 days pp and feeling quite well on the surgery side of things. Haven't had narcs since 8 days pp, still doing some Motrin and Tylenol a couple times a day more for achy back. I've definitely done poorly on staying hydrated as my bowel movements went from soft and easy early on to now rock solid and feeling like it's ripping me open! Sorry, tmi? I restarted my iron and I'm sure that's why. Other than that, baby is great but very confused on when he should be sleeping. He thinks midnight to 3am is a perfectly acceptable time to be wide awake and fussy. Ah well, the joys of a newborn! Besides that life is grand!
  • I'm 4 days pp and I am feeling pretty good. We actually got to go home yesterday, only 3 days post surgery. With the pain meds taking care of the mild discomfort I have at the incision area, the constipation is honestly the hardest thing to deal with right now.

  • @jbug88‌ I had my second csection on Monday. My incision reopened about an inch on the left side and I am still numb on my lower back and upper butt. I have an appt tomorrow to see my OBGYN. My recovery has been rough too. :(

I posted on the c-section board but didn't get any feedback - on Tuesday, I started bleeding from my incision site and was told I have a seroma. They had to reopen my incision and I'm now packing a wound and dressing change every day. Have any second time x section moms had a similar experience? I'm just wondering what your recovery was like and how long it took to heal. I am already struggling with "processing" my c section, this has made the whole process even more difficult for me. : /

I'm so sorry. I had this with my first and had to go back into surgery two days after she was born. Not fun. But overall my recovery is similar to this one. I feel decent 7 days out. Still taking pain meds though.
