December 2012 Moms

Go ahead & leave the babygate open big brother, mama's for this...

And of course I forgot & let Killian wander out of his room while I grabbed his clothes this morning. 10 carpeted stairs & with tile at the bottom (thankfully mostly covered by a rug) later & he has a goose-egg on his forehead & drug burn from hairline to chin. MOTY right here!
That was the most awful sounding thump ever. Gave myself rug burn running to get him.
He was standing at the bottom of the stairs just getting ready to scream when I reached him. Cried for about 3 minutes then just wanted to snuggle. He was a littl confused when I was still crying 15 minutes later. Scared the living daylights out of me.

  • That is scary. We do not have a gate at the top of the stairs yet because we only let her play in her room or our room. Well DH walked out of our room and left the door open today even though we never leave our doors open because our cats are not allowed in our room. We both went flying in the direction of the stairs which are only about three feet from our door and I ended up on the floor. DD was laughing hysterically. Lesson learned. Time to get a gate for the top.

It can happen in a second. I'm glad he is okay. Don't blame yourself.

We have stairs where we are right now in the hallway to lo's room and they are uncarpeted wood stairs.  The ballstead (right word?) is round so we can't seem to find a gate that will work.  It's not our house so we can't drill into the walls for a more stable gate.  I make sure that I carry her when we have to go into the hallway.  I know she wants to walk down the hall so badly.
  • Hugs Mama! I know that's scary, DD has done that twice (the top of the stairs at our current house will not fit a gate, the rails are offset really weird)...I caught her once and she hit the bottom once...it's definitely scarier for us than them.
