I did not see that coming!! At all!! It's crazy how many people could have done it, too. So so glad he's dead. I got a pit in my stomach any time he was in a scene because he was always so cruel.
I think that as long as people continue to believe that Robert was their father, and not Jaime, Tommen (Joff's little brother) is next in line for the throne. He might not be old enough, though, do Tywin might have to be in charge for a while.
It's possible Sansa did it, but he took a sip before he cut the pie and didn't start reacting until after he had some oh the pie and more wine. No one else ate the pie either, so it could be that too I guess.
I thought Tyrion picked up the cup from where Margaery was sitting but I wasn't sure. Is it possible that it was Cersei who tried to poison Margaery and Tyrion inadvertently picked up the cup meant for Margaery and gave it to Joeffry?
Weren't there dead birds in the pie from when he cut the pie with his sword? Maybe that's what poisoned him? Or did I just imagine that.
The whole scene was so intense it actually gave me a stomachache. I had to go check on E in her crib because prolonged death scenes give me the heebie jeebies.

Yes! They made a point to show the dead birds...that would be a huge el oh el if he basically killed himself because he's such a cocky ass
I kept thinking Sansa was going to get up and shank his ass. I knew as soon as Grandma T brought up killing at weddings that the little shit was dead. I'm in camp Grandma T had something to do with it.
Speaking of the actor that plays Joffrey, did anyone else listen to the credits? It was totally him singing the song from the red wedding. So creepy, but cool!

damnit my boss filled me in on what really happened and I'm going to have to watch it again...
Explain
Ok, ya know the necklace Sansa was wearing? Do you remember Grandma T coming over and messing with her hair a little bit while she was talking to her about the Red Wedding? And then do you remember when Marjorie got everyone's attention when the pie came out? Yeah, Grandma T took poison from one of the things on Sansa's necklace and put it in Joffrey's cup while Marjorie distracted everyone...

I couldn't wait until Wednesday to watch with DH. Otherwise I would have had to avoid this thing called the internet until then. So very pleased with the poisoning, serves you right bridezilla.
This is fun to read your thoughts (I don't watch the show but I've read the books)
This means we are completely wrong.
Nope! Not necessarily! It's interesting how the show is different. The book spells some things out that are less obvious in the show it seems like. And I just like reading thoughts as things happen - it's been awhile since I've been there. I was just talking to hubby and telling him that it seems like FOREVER ago that he died.
If Sansa and Grandma T did it with the necklace- it was brilliant!
I feel really bad for Tyrion. He's had so much crap happen to him. I hope someone rescues him, and him and Shae live happily ever after somewhere far, far away. But, I know that's not like GoT
I thought Shae was important as well. My prediction is a disguised princess, or spy...for The House of Martell, or for Pentos or Lorath.
I keep going back to the last 15 minutes of the episode and the way that they show it- it either has to be Sansa or Grandma T, by themselves.
1. I watched the grandma play with her hair and necklace. They show the necklace multiple times after that, and nothing is "missing" on it.
2. The cup was specifically right in front of the grandma, where Marjorie placed it when Joffrey was about to cut the pie. After cutting, he drinks from it and starts choking. There's a slight possibility that Sansa put something in it while she was grabbing it off the ground (before the pie cutting), but I'm not sure how long it would take for the poison to take affect.
@Beary+Ghastly check the far right bead/pendant on the necklace, closest to Sansa's left shoulder. I think that bead was missing after Grandma plays with her hair. I might be wrong but I replayed that scene about seven times and I think that bead was taken.
I also noticed in the scene right before the reception when grandma T is walking with Tywin (sp?) that the camera pans down to her hand and it looks like she holding something in it. A vial of something perhaps?
DH is going to be so mad when he finds out I know what happened LOL he hates when I find out things ahead of time (especially sports scores ) I knew it was the gma! I love her feistiness

Ok, so I didn't read the book (yet) and I thought that Sansa did it since she handed Tyrion the cup, right?
Also, don't think Shae got on the boat and that's gonna screw T when it comes to his sister.
I was freaking out last night
