Baby wearing

I love wearing Lucas! I wanted to wear him a lot and still be able to get household chores done.

I don't use all natural cleaning products so I've not been wearing him when I clean.

What do you all do? Natural products and wear LO while you clean, or just let them hang out somewhere else!?

Re: Baby wearing

  • I let her hang out in the bouncer when using the stronger products (kitchen/bathroom) otherwise I figure it's good enough. Plus, the windows are open now.

  • Love my moby! But I also made a ring sling for this LO so we'll see which she likes better!

  • We have a moby-style wrap. Tessa loves it. I use natural products in the house (or no products at all thanks to my Norwex cloths!) so I wouldn't hesitate to wear her and clean. But I'm with Janice... not much cleaning is happening these days!

Pretty sure they're like microfiber. Cleans well with just water.

  • It's a home party direct sales type company that makes microfiber cloths for cleaning the house. The shower mitt, window cloth and dusting mitt are AWESOME and require no chemicals at all. I use the regular cloths to wipe kitchen surfaces too.

Infantino mei tai carrier. It's a sash carrier. I used a Moby for a while but Lucas Hates it now.

The Mei Tai is actually pretty cheap and it works great, and easier to do with just one person!
I read your recommendation and saw the tutorial video online. And bought it! Now we'll see which gets here first: baby or baby carrier!
  • We have a ring sling which we are enjoying much more than the Moby we used with DD. I use natural cleaning products, but, um, yeah, laundry and dishes are about all we are attempting right now.

  • I have a lovey duds and it loosens up after about 15 mins. No matter how tight I initially tie it around myself. Thinking I should try another kind.

How long did you wait after delivery to start baby wearing? I have an Ergobaby but she'll be too small for it for a while and was thinking about getting something in the meantime. I just don't know if I could handle it until I'm totally healed.

I've been using the Ergo with infant insert since birth. Before I bought the insert, I just rolled up a blanket under his bum and froggied his legs so you could try that maybe? I don't feel that LO is too small to be safely carried in the Ergo.

I pretty much just use microfiber clothes and vinegar and water. I'm looking into buying Norwex too. The only thing I use heavier stuff on is the toilets and tubs which I think aren't the easiest chore to baby wear any way. @MrsW26‌ I have a baby k'tan which is perfect to use with a newborn. I even nurse my daughter while she is in it. I've been wearing her since 5 days PP and I had a c-section.

I ordered a boba and just got it yesterday. I've used it the past two days to take walks. I'm not sure if I'm just not getting the fabric tight enough, but I def still have to support LO with one arm. I thought I would be able to be hands free, but as if yet, I haven't been able to be :/
I bought one since husband's cousin was using it and I liked it. She used it right away keeping her hands free, so I guess it's just a matter of tightening the fabric... She even came to our wedding wearing her baby (and a dress, of course :) )

  • The only area of the house that gets a harsh chemical cleaning is tub and toilets and I can't say I would be able to feasibly babywear to clean those areas anyway. I have microfiber cloths, water/vinegar, and other natural cleaning solutions for just about everything else.

That being said, at 3 weeks I am lucky to have the kitchen/dishes and laundry caught up. Today I need to go around and empty trash, change the litter box (no babywearing for that either), and try to sweep? Ugh.

  • The Baby K'Tan works for us, but I'm still outsourcing heavy cleaning to my Mom at 11 days PP.
  • Those of you who use K'tans, how tight should it be on you before baby arrives? I've read you should size down with the regular, but use their sizing for the Breeze? I'm confused as to which one to buy....or maybe I should wait until he gets here & try it on in the store with him in it??
  • How amazing is the k'tan? I have an Ergo already with a newborn insert, but it just seems so big and bulky. I'd like something smaller and easier for at home. The ergo also is hurting at my incision right now. Trying to come up with reasons to convince DH I need one

That is what I have but its very similar to a Moby. I used it with DD to grocery shop and 5km walks and around the house.Oh yeah, even around an airport during 12 hour layovers! You have to put it on pretty tight before you insert baby.

I have a Boba as well and have used it once for a walk but feel like it is already too hot where I live for DD to be comfortable in it! She was burning up. I have yet to try it in the house and would guess she would be ok in it in the house or out in the air conditioning. I really liked it the one time I have use it though!
I feel like this too.  I know my hormones are crazy but trying DS in the Boba in my cool house in a t-shirt for 5 min and I wanted to die.  I'm really worried that I'm not going to be able to wear him this summer because we both will be too hot.  My friend said I will get used to it.  Thoughts anyone?  I have the Boba 4G....is there a cooler one I should try?

    Thanks!
  • I tried my Moby for the first time today and DS's breathing was off. Like the moan breathing which I know isn't good. I've got to practice putting him in and making sure I'm tied correctly. Today's trial was not so great, maybe tomorrow for some cleaning.

I got the Breeze and figured I would be a XS based on the chart and trying to go by my pre-preg size (5'6, 140 lbs) but it was very tight - I could hardly fit a teddy bear in there, so I doubt I'd fit an 8+ lb baby (plus I'm a DD). I returned it and got a S and like the room I have a little more, but I kinda suck at putting the wrap together, so I'm just keeping the box and receipt for now and we'll see if I got the right size. Hope that helps a little...
I got the k'tan in a size small and I waited until last night to try it on. Mine is also way too tight. Guess I'm sending it back for a medium. What a pain.

  • @purespark‌ I agree that it looks way too loose. Also, for the other ladies with k'tans, it should practically be tight on you without a baby. It stretches out a lot and needs to stay tight to your body with baby in it.

I have a ktan in a size medium and can barely fit a teddy bear either!! It's so tight and small but I guess we shall see when the baby gets here!! I am typically 5'3 and 145 with a D chest... Anyone else use a size medium?? @purespark‌ yours looks super big in comparison to mine on me.

  • I had a moby last time but wasn't a huge fan. This time I bought a maya ring sling to use and then I have a beco that I loved last time to use again for longer trips. Now I just need a baby to put in it :)
  • We get hot in the Boba(Moby-ish) as well! DD was born in Sept which is the beginning of summer here, but we were in the US Nov-Jan so it was awesome there! I wore her when we cut the Christmas Tree and walking around DC (some how it was 65 the first day and 44 and windy the next but she was toasty!)

When we got back here in Jan it was in the 100s and yes long walks were HOT but I still did them as I didn't have another carrier option...happy I have a linen ring sling to try now!

We also back carry (West African style) and that is less hot--there are wrap carriers that allow you to back carry.
