Waking 1 week old for feedings

Pretty basic newbie Q here :-) Currently I'm waking DS every 2 hours to eat during the day if he doesn't awaken on his own. What's the rule for during the night? He is just back to birth weight and we have another weigh in later this week. Last night he went 4 hours and I woke up in a panic and woke him to feed since still asleep. Thanks for any advice.

  • You could always do a dream feed if you don't mind waking up.

  • Thanks all for your input. What about waking during the day? As I mentioned I'm feeding him every 2 hours now. Sometimes a feed takes 45-60 min and then we're back at it 1 hour later!! Thoughts??

  • My babies never ate 12 times a day, so I don't think you need to force it by waking him to feed. 8 times is plenty if they are growing.
