a little TMI

I am 8 weeks and am having a hard time with bowl movements. Today I was straining a little to hard, and started to bleed some( not from the rectum). It's after hours so I can't call the doc. Am I worrying over nothing, has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

Re: a little TMI

  • Try taking Colace daily. Pooping shouldn't cause vaginal bleeding though.

  • I drink half a cup of prune juice every night to get things going in the morning. Keep an eye on the bleeding though. That shouldn't happen when you use the bathroom but I bled randomly throughout my pregnancy. It was scary but the doctor never found anything wrong.
  • You can get bleeding from straining too hard. As others said stool softeners are great :)
  • Thank you all for the advice, I appreciate it. I ended up going to the er, so I would stop stressing about it. They said everything looks good:)
  • I used to go easily before I was pregnant. Now it hurts and I need colace to make it bearable. I'm told its normal. But bleeding though is always scary
  • I am glad everything is fine. Bleeding is terrifying. I bled a few times during the course of my pregnancy.

  • Colace daily and if it gets bad Miralax.  Don't let it get bad, I speak from experience.  Also try putting your feet up on a footstool while pooping, it helps a lot.

Yes! This worked better than Colace or anything else for me. They have things called the squatty potty or whatever lol, I just use an overturned plastic laundry hamper.

I've had issues with constipation throughout this pregnancy. It often results in bleeding (I have hemorroids from my first delivery that flare up occasionally). It's not vaginal bleeding but I could see how early on it would lead to a freak out. Glad to hear everything is ok.

I regularly take Miralax and should buy stock in witch hazel pads. I also agree with the foot stool suggestion. When it gets really bad I rely on a sitz bath twice a day.

  • I have had plumbing problems with all 3 of my pregnancies.  My last one it got so bad around 8wks or 9wks I felt solid.  I couldn't breath well, I was constantly uncomfortable, and I could.not.go.  I tried prune juice but it made me nauseous.  I personally don't like taking stool softeners and the like.  So I just waited it out.  I upped my water intake some and massaged my abdomen.  I finally had a BM after a week or 2 and then I was fine.
