I am the same way. It is so bittersweet. It is awesome to watch them grow and develop but it is definitely "sad" to watch them stop being babies/toddlers/little kids/etc. at the same time.
The only thing I wasn't sad about? Leaving the newborn 0-3 month phase

Ya I feel the same way the nb stage was horrible. I don't know what was worse nb stage or breastfeeding. Lmao
Would it make you less sad if I pointed out she's been a toddler for almost a year? (toddlers are typically defined as 12-36 M)
On a serious note, while I can't quite empathize (I will be happy to leave the toddler years behind) I can sympathize because being OAD makes everything bittersweet. Hugs to you and happy b-day to your LO.

We'll be planning our LO's second bday pretty soon and H is all "I can't believe our baby is almost 2!" and I'm all "it feels like he should be 10 by now..." Haha.
Sorry you'r sad about it. Just focus on the fun party

Ya its fun making everything even more special since you only do big stuff one time.
I felt the same way when I was driving with DS and he said "dick" instead of penis (he is eight).....I almost drove into a ditch.....then you really know they are not a baby anymore..... ) . It took me days to recover.
In all seriousness, I get where you are coming from. Bitter sweet indeed.
Love it....very true....everytime we pass a mile stone there is something new to savor and enjoy at each stage (potty mouth included because after I got to tell DH and we laughed till we cried)
I haven't been sad at a bday yet, but I have a feeling 5 is going to be hard. Ages 2-4 are kind of blending together for me. 3 is like 2 with more words. I feel like 4 is gonna be like 3, but with more coordination (dressing, writing, using scissors...).
I am in the same boat. Planning the second bday and sad!

I used to say 1-2 yo was my favorite stage ever. and then she turned 2. 2-3 is so much fun. the things she says, the way she sees the world, OMG, she's just the funniest and sweetest person I have ever known. seriously, everyday it's more magical than the last.
