Re: NEED HELP!

  • We had a few nights like that. I believe it was when he was teething. He woke like it was party time. I just brought him to bed with us and didn't let him get out of our bed. No lights, no talking, etc. It's bedtime still. I felt awful but after checking his diaper and offering milk he cried it out in bed with us. He eventually fell back asleep. We gave him like and hour or two and moved him back into his crib and he would sleep fine the rest of the night.

Sleep changes so much with kids. All I know for certain with my son is he needs 13+ hours a day or all hell breaks loose. Also, even though it feels like it will never end...it will. This too shall pass.

  • Have you tried CIO?  We did once DD was about 9 months old, which was also when she went through an awful sleep phase much like what you're describing.  It took some patience but we worked through it and now she STTN from about 8pm to 6:30am.  I have also been able to put her in her crib the last couple of nights with no tears - I just say it's bedtime, mommy and daddy love you, sweet dreams and then walk out and close the door.  We do leave a few stuffed toys in her crib and she'll sometimes play a little before falling asleep or when she wakes up in the morning.  I assume she plays in the MOTN too.  These toys never leave her crib so she only gets to see them/play with them when it's nighttime or naptime.  Last night she actually leaned out of my arms into the crib as I was picking her up to put her to bed!

Good luck, you will get through it!
  • I'd try walk in walk out if I were you. GL!
  • Looking at your post history, it seems like your LO has been crying a great deal (Feb, Mar, and now April). Maybe you want to check with your pediatrician at this point?

  • We did CIO around 8/9 months. Best thing ever! It took about 3 days and now she sleeps through the night (around 12 hours total) and goes to bed without issues. It's hard to hear them cry, but you can't give in. Then they think they'll get what they want when they cry because they are definitely at the age where they know how to manipulate.
