Boppy vs My Brest Friend??

Anyone have experience with My Best Friend? I of course registered for a Boppy because they are multi functional. Then I had a friend comment that I absolutely must get the MBF because the positioning was better for nursing. So I registered for that too. I got both at my shower, but haven't opened either. Originally I figured the Boppy would serve me just fine, but then of course I start second guessing myself and wondering if maybe I really would have an easier time with the MBF. Any opinions welcome.

Also, my cankles are so fat that I cut myself shaving them. My lower legs to my feet look about double their normal size. Pregnancy = WINNING!!!!

Re: Boppy vs My Brest Friend??

  • MBF all the way. The Boppy can be used for other things, but the MBF was far better for breast feeding. I would however guess that it probably also depends on how mom is built, breast size, etc.

  • The nurse who taught my childcare class said that the positioning with the MBF was much better than a boppy and my sister tried both and found that the MBF was much better. I have both (hand me downs) but I only plan to use the MBF for breastfeeding.

  • It's just personal preference. I did not like the MBF at all. Preferred the Boppy with a pillow under it, even in the early days. Had no trouble with positioning and found the Boppy much more comfortable.

  • We own both, though, I have yet to use the MBF for nursing, it seems that it would serve better for BFing based on the structure.

I got both for my shower but returned the boppy. FTM here so no first hand experience but everyone I asked said that mbf is better for breast feeding. We have limited space so I wasn't into keeping anything extra so I am hoping I chose correctly.

@Jennyinheaven FTM here too, but I think you may end up rebuying the Boppy.. That is multifunctional beyond just a feeding pillow. You can lay them in it, they can use it to sit once they are able to etc.

Edited because autocorrect keeps changing Boppy to hoppy! Fuck you autocorrect!!!!
  • Boppy girl here. Worked great for us for bfing even when DS was tiny (my having big boobs may have something to do with that).

Plus I could recline him in it, lay him on his tummy in it (he hated tummy time), and use it as a support behind him when he was learning to sit.

  • Team Boppy, although everyone I know with a MBF raves about it.

  • I have both. I love the MBF for nursing, love, love, love. I can honestly say I don't think we would have been as successful as we were BFing without it. The Boppy we used more for tummy time and helping to support her before she could sit on her own. I did use it to nurse once or twice. Just wasn't the same.

I'm pretty small chested and had issues bfing DS1 (position and latch) so I'm trying the MBF this time. Edited for spelling
  • Trying out MBF this time around. I could never get comfortable BF with the boppy.

Bumping because I'm curious if anyone has opinions on the "new" Boppy? The dual-sided one. That's the one I registered for. I'm wondering if it will be the best of both words, since it seems much more structured and firm on one side like the MBF.

  • Love love love the boppy. I used it everyday from day one til about 14 months. I actually bought multiple Boppies so I could keep one on each level of the house and one in my car.

This was my experience. I didn't BF very long, but I still got a ton of use out of the Boppy in later months.

I bought a MBF when a certain pattern was on closeout at Target for $15, so I'll get to compare them this time around. Though I've already noticed that MBF isn't quite as size friendly as the Boppy. I'm plus size (20/22) and MBF doesn't fit around me as nicely as the Boppy. Might be something for bigger girls to consider.
