I hate these GD numbers!

So my numbers after meals have been great...all under 120! My problem is my fasting number has yet to be 95 or less! I don't get it! I've been eating dinner around 7:30/8 so by 10pm I'm in bed sleeping so my husband wakes me so I can take my levels which is again under 120...then I go back to bed only to wake up after 8 hours with a level anywhere between 103-114! How? Why? Diet nurse suggested I have a protein night snack right after my last level check, like almonds, hard boiled egg, spoon of peanut butter. Okay....did that...last two days...fasting levels still the same? If this keeps up I'll have to be put on meds...what am I doing wrong?

  • @ashes92813, that looks super fancy! I need a new BR cardigan; the one I have had for several *cough* 12 *cough* years has a hole in it now :( Do you want to visit this store with me?

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • @flerlgirl‌, it's a date! I wonder I can still squeeze into their cardigans. My belly is quite pumpkiny these days

That's the best thing about cardigans - they stretch. And they come in so many colors!

  • I've been having the same problem with my fasting numbers.  My doctor just started me on Glyburide 2.5 mg twice a day to help.  I haven't had a chance to fill the script yet though.  Just make sure you are communicating with your doctor and they will help you stay on track.  Good luck!

  • My doctor suggested a cheese stick with lunch meat wrapped around. It helped me get my fasting numbers under 95.

Look up Somogyi effect. I'd probably check my BS in the middle of the night for a few nights to see if I'm dipping too low and my body is counter-acting, or if it stays steadily high.

I had high fasting numbers for awhile, and it turns out I wasn't eating enough at night.  My body would eat through it's snack, then start breaking down fat which releases way more glucose than my food choices did;  Hang in there.  Only 2 more months.  Then cookies.... glorious cookies!
