Okay, this is a post about DD2, since I don't ever post on her BMB.
She is nearly 10 months and a super steady walker already. We have been spending a lot more time outdoors, and decided it's time to get her some shoes for walking around outside so she's not always confined to the stroller or swing when we're in the yard.
We went to Stride Rite last night, got her foot measured, picked out a pair of shoes. She watched DD1 get her feet measured and try on some new shoes. Then she sat happily on DH's lap while he tried her new pair on her feet. Then he put her down and all hell broke loose! She stood there for maybe 15 seconds while her face slowly dissolved from confusion to disgust to downright anger! She refused to take a single step, starting howling and crying, and got down and starting crawling furiously. It was like she was trying to escape the shoes! We stood her up a few times so we could check, and they fit just fine as far as we could tell, she just refused to take a single step with them on her feet. She was crying so hard we took them off, paid for them, and left.
When we got home, I pulled the shoes out of the box, and she started crying as soon as she saw them. It was so weird! She wouldn't even hold them when I handed them to her, she just screamed and ran away from me. I tried putting them on her again and she went into a full on melt down.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I'm not sure where to go from here. She wants to get down all the time when we're outside, but I can't let her go barefoot. Any suggestions? I'm going to show her the shoes again in a little bit, but I'm hesitant to piss her off because she's in such a good mood...

Re: My kid hates shoes....(DD2)
Duffgurl we were just being silly, but we did hold the shoes up to her and "asked" her which one she liked best. I really just think the sensation of the weight of the shoes on her feet is freaking her out.
Good thoughts on the Robeez and skidder socks, ladies. I'm going to look for some options when I'm out over the next couple of days, and I'll report back in with - hopefully! - progress.
It's just getting so tough because she wants to get down and play so badly now that she is a full fledged walker. But her socks and feet are getting so gross.
